Broke this week, but want to do a mod to your car? 15 dollar Blue Cav Store Credit to the person who finds me the link to my new dual exhaust system!
I am buying this exhaust mainly for looks, the performance benefit is just a bonus to me (hence putting this thread here and not in the Performance forum)
Anyway, I am looking for a dual exhaust for an 03 Cavalier. I want something Chrome or Silver, and it has to either come with the flat Camaro tips or be able to have the Camaro tips welded on.
I will look over your suggestions (please post links) and notify the winner here. I plan to make my final decision this week. If you sell exhausts, please let me know! I have so many projects going on right now that I don't have time to research this, and wanted to hook a JBO member up with a free item or 2.
Thanks!
Steve

ok then wthats the point of haveing a contest for dual exhaust. you have your mind made up on what you want. just get camero style mufflers.
RK Sport is not coming up for some reason...
but I think that link that MeanCav posted is the RKSport dual exhaust, which has round tips that cannot be changed to the flat Camaro tips, if my conversation with the RK guy was true...

The point of having the contest is that I see what I want, but RKSport said that they have no idea what exhaust is actually on that car and they do not sell anything for the Cavalier with tips like that. If it was as easy as ordering it from RK, I'd have done it by now...
I don't know anything about welding exhausts, what tips are compatible with what pipes, etc. I am just looking to reward someone who has the knowledge I lack.

Go and get a custom exhuast made up using normal mufflers and buy your tips. get a set of borla or magnaflow mufflers out of Jegs or summit. Then just see if RK or ne Chevy dealership near you can get in the tips that you want and take it to a local exhaust shop and get it installed they'll make it how you want it.

The problem is that no one at RK Sport seems to know if the pipes end up at 2 1/2" or 3", etc and they have to be 2 1/2" to fit onto the Camaro tips I want. I don't want to buy all this stuff to be told by the exhaust place that something won't fit. I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff...

Get a muffler like mine:
Have a shop bend the pipes and weld it up.
I actually want to switch to the same tips on my car, been thinking about it for a while, make sure to post pics when your done.

^^^ thats what i have but i have oval dtm tips
Rob wins!
Listen to him, an exhaust shop can pretty much do anything, hell if the inlet on the Camaro tips was big enough, they could cut off the tips on the RK Magnaflow mufflers and weld those on.
I think the inlet on the Camaro tips is 2 1/2" - I will need to do a little more research and see how big the inlets on the Magnaflows are. I wish the people at RK KNEW something about the stuff they sell...

Someone just told me that they cannot weld the tips on if the exhaust is stainless steel - true?

how hard would it be to do this? would this set up work well with a flowmaster 40 on the 2.4?

Personally I wouldnt waste the money on buying a dual kit with canisters. I was going to buy the exact same one from RKSport.com (andysautosport.com also carries it). But with shipping it was going to be 440. I went to this place in town that has always done my exhust work on previous cars and asked how much he would charge. He said he would cut from behind the axle and make a Y bracket, and well my two exhust on for 120 bucks!!! 120 beats 440 anyday of the week. I've acctually been thinking of just getting one of them dual exhust that one pipe gets welded two, if you know what I'm talking about, and have him make it come out in the middle of my rear bumper.
I would just to go a body shop that does exhuast work and have them make it for you. All they have to do is bend a couple of pipes and weld them togeather.

Well you would need the outlet diameter, which I'm sure it bigger than 2 1/2" sadly enough. RK know something about what they sell?

That's a good one!

False, who the hell told you you cannot weld stainless steel? Half the fart cans are made out of stainless steel.
