just a quick question... I removed the badge in the back (chevrolet sign).. should I also remove the one in the front on the hood or will the car look funny without one in the front when looking at it??? it's a black 4 door cav.
let me know what you think...
Carlitto
a lot of people do that. go for it!
i think the car looks better with out them. i have a black 98 cav and i removed all the emblems and door moldings
Take them all off... badges suck... no need to advertise for chevy...

just a question.. I took off my moldings on the side... and obviously, there was still some of that stupid glue remained.... what can I use to sand/remove it off from the car??? to make it look much nicer and cleaner.....????
please help!!!
Carlitto
p.s. Thank I will remove the badge in the front.
i used my thumb and just rubbed it and it started to roll up. yea i had a big blister a few hours later. you can use goo-gone too.
I only removed the front badge, But I left the back one. I think it looks cool if you remove the chevrolet and cavalier from the back also!
"Remember do what you like because you have to drive it."--Me
it's safe to use goo-gone???
like what do i do... squirt the goo-gone on the glue against the paint/side of the car where the moldings are???
and do i just leave it... or i have to rub with my finger?? goo-gone is safe with my finger??
please let me know with a few details???
THANX!!!!
i dunno i never used it. i used my thumb. its safe for the car. about 95% of the people on here used it to do theirs. im sure there are instructions on the bottole.
yeah but the thing is that i used my thumb... except not all of it comes off with my fingers.. that's why im looking for another method to take it off...
imagine, most of the contour of the moldings is still there (with glue) the shape of the moldings is outlined with the dried up glue, that's why i need something else to remove it and not my fingers...!!!
)))
when i took off my moldings i used bug and tar remover and my thumb, its a pain in the a$# and takes mad long, but its worth it, it just takes time. o and make sure u wax and buff the SH^% out of it when ur done itll look mad good
wow, you guys and your thumbs... why do you make it so hard on yourselves?
either use Goo Gone or 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover... and a spare rag or towel. squirt a little on there, let it soak in for a second, use the towel or rag to wipe it off, repeat if necessary. really freakin easy, and no harm to your thumbs.
depends how old your car is, i promise nothing will take it off but sand paper if its too old, and dont worry about getting bitched at for asking, couple these guys are d bags.
Just STFU about the spoiler already......lol
I used a heat gun and my thumb. It took a little work and you gotta be a little careful not to use too much heat or you might wreck your paint but the heat gun helps a lot.

dont get mad at use because you have a @!#$ty spoiler
now back to the topic...use heat and your thumb...or 3m adhesive remover and your thumb...make sure you wash the adhesive remover or goo gone off thoroughly though

my point exactly lol
I have put more work in my car and it has come further than you could ever dream. AND I did all the work myself with the exception of paint, tint and exhaust. So you dont have to like the spoiler, but any reasonably rational or mature person could respect the work put into the car. But go ahead and be an E-hardass if it compensates for the inadequecies in life that your are trying fufill.
I see said the blind man to the deaf dog.
Just STFU about the spoiler already......lol
I am sorry to say but I was unsuccessfull... i got 98% of the glue off... except there is the outline of the moldings that remain and it's definitely not glue... seems like the paint has faded,,, anyhow, does anyone have an idea of how to cover the strips up, how about vinyl strips going accross, nothing fancy.... where the moldings were, covering the back and the front doors on both sides,
my car is a 4 door black cavalier, how about like a silver strip or black maybe??? any ideas of what would look nice???
Carletto
Before you go putting any kind of vinyl or any other decals on the side, be sure that you have buffed and waxed the car. Alot of times, depending on the difference in color fading, of course, buffing will actually help to blend the color some. Then throw a good coat of wax on the car, and see how it looks. If it is still that bad, then go ahead and try the vinyl method. All that is going to do is cover a problem you have. You could also go and get a new paint job, if you got the money for it. Do what your bank account will allow.
LiLiNoRe (Live Life No Regrets)
no problem.. I will try to wax more... but I don't think it will do.. but I have nothing to lose until I make my final decision...
but, let's say I do put some graphics or vinyl strips.... anyone have any ideas on the style and or colour to cover the outline of where the side moldings were??? my car is a 4 door, black cavalier 98.
Carletto
Worst case, by a can of 3M contact glue and spray the moldings and slap them back on.
ok guys... i really want to cover up the outline that was left of the removal of the side moldings... what style of strip should i use and what colour..
i have a 4 door cavalier, black..
let me know PLease!!!
take a pic so we can help w/whats left over!.
some detail shops might be able to get the rest of the stuff off the car. they will sometimes have profesional type cleaners, im sure. for that situation if someone brings a car to get fully detailed and wants that off. just ask how much to get the glue stuff off. may not be to expensive.
