I own a 2000 Cavalier and I read on this site under main library how to clear them out to make them look like clear corners. At the end of the article it said to complete the project you need to buy some super white bulbs and stick those in. I asked my dad if I could do this project to my car and he said that it is illegal in Missouri to have white turn signals and that only yellow turn signals are allowed. Do any of you know if my dad heard wrong or is it really illegal? I would like to know because I wont do this if I have to have a big ugly yellow light in the clear corners.

The mod is almost certainly illegal regardless of which bulbs you use because it involves removing the side-facing reflector.

If he doesn't know that though and you want to do it anyway, you can get amber bulbs that have a two-way mirror coating on them (like mirrored sunglasses) so they look white but light up amber.

I think anything other than amber bulbs are illegal.. I got away with white bulbs for a long time.. I wanted a different look so I put the amber ones in. And yes I do have clear lenses with my amber bulbs. Doesnt look bad at all.

The easy way around that is to put amber bulbs in. The clear corners I bought came with amber bulbs and I have not nad a single problem with the cops.

and actually that "how to install clear corners" artical is only for 95 - 99 Cavy's the headlight style changed for the 00 - 02 cavy's and again for the 03 - 05. your car you just:
- Remove the black shield,
- Get ia flat head screw driver between the headlight & corner light to pop loose the tab
- Then pull the corner light out.
- Remove the white light bulb

To install
- Install amber bulb into clear corner
- pop corner light into place
- reinstall that black shield

clear corners with white bulbs are not illegal everywhere. in wisconsin they are not. you can either have amber or white in the front and red or amber in the back. best way to find out is to look up the laws on your states website.

I would say also see if you can find a set of amber led's, those are white until activated, and then turn amber.

I have them on my 01, i haven't had any hassle with cops. I have chrome bulbs. They look chrome and you can't tell you have bulbs till you turn your signals on and they are bright amber. Any other color your pushing it. White you might get away with.

Guys, this is correct. It is illegal to not have an amber reflector up front. This is why a lot of the euro-clear (crystal clear) corners come with a little 1"x1" stick on reflector, so they can sell them as 50 state legal.
The bulb color allowed varies by state (white or amber). Other colors are illegal.

However, most cops and inspection stations don't bother you if you have amber bulbs. I've had cars registered in three different states with all different variations of clear corners and different bulbs, and I've never had a problem with getting an inspection sticker, or with cops.

The chrome bulbs that people are refering to are great, and they are available in hyper white or amber (as well as many other colors). I think if you're going to have clear lenses, the chrome bulbs are a must, so that you don't see the amber at all.
