House Of Kolor Paints

Does anyone have any ideal of what prices run for any of house of Kolor paints? Or can direct me some place that list prices. I tried getting the info from them but they wouldn't help me out any. Atleast the last time i tried. They wanted me to go to a dealer. But when you live in the sticks you don't really have a local House of Kolor's dealer. haha. So anyone have any ideals of there cost on paints Any info is great. Thanks.

depends, what paints are you trying to get? are you trying to get some kandy or other specialized paint?

its pretty expensive. i pretty sure that if you use their paint, you also have to use their clear and base coats or else it wont turn out the same.

What are some other paints out there. I was gonna do a midnight purple with gold flake but I think my ideals changed with the response I got with my car being flat black that I'm going to go with some sorta black with the gold flake yet. or something of that sort. I figured on using all one brand when i did the work. Also the artist i have doing my airbrush only uses house of kolor paint so I wanted to make sure if i did anything it wouldn't conflict with the work he will be doing. if that makes anysense.

well as a certified house of kolor painter ,you cant just buy it from the company , house of kolor is owned by valspar finishes , and when you buy house of kolor you can only buy it in a kit kind of form you cant just buy house of kolor base and use your clear it is all one big system and for a simple color non kandy or pearl is around $700.00 and thats a dealers cost, if you manage to get a certified shop to sell you a system i doubt youll get it at that price , i got a direct price to me for a tangalope pearl system and it was $1200.00 without a sealer/primer well hope that helps some email me for more info if you need it ,but if you on a budget go with ppg over sw

I have painted with PPG and DuPont, both have excelent products, and luckily the 2 largest dealers around me are a huge PPG dealer and a huge Du Pont dealer, and theyre about 15 minutes from each other. anyway, I prefer DuPont mostly cuz i have used their stuff more and it has never failed to come out wonderfull. But i can honestly say i have never used anything but striping paint from HOK.

Spence, when I got my sunset pearl for my car it was $76 qt I believe. Price wise the pearls run the same as single stage PPG colors. BUT then with pearls and brights you have to look at the fact that you're gonna have to put down either primer then white paint, or white primer sealer. (both are gonna be expensive) when I did my car, materials came to around $689 (plus tx). So thats just a ballpark for ya.

For your information ppg stands for pittsburgh plate glass. I believe their main product was glass when the company started. Like dupont, they make many different types of products and chemicals, very good auto paint being one of them. Most paint suppliers around here carry ppg. Everyone just calls it ppg though, and if you went to some suppliers and told them you needed pittsburgh plate glass paint you might confuse them.

Ohh yeah, and they have a line of candy paint called raidence. If you want to learn more about them go to ppg.com, and look around they site till you find the auto refinish area. It will have thier different lines of paint and also tech sheet on how to use and apply them.

the local guru in osage beach uses hok paints, his paint room is awsome lookin big racks with pigment jars everywhere, their paint can be bought seperate there are a couple online stores that sell paint supplies from them, my brother has been using dupont products on all of his projects, his truck is painted in a single stage chroma one, its good stuff but its single stage which makes it alittle more likely to oxidize quickly, if you wax often single stages arent horrible, but i'd avoid it for a show car its much easier to work with seperate clears , my brother also uses dupont single stage sentari on his skis, all the repairs were painted with this and they all took the abuse really well and held their colors nicely, i have yet to see one fade or oxidize but they were only painted for about 6 months or so, his skis were in the sun every single day. so i trust dupont, ppg is supposed to be great as well, hok is great for a brand name, or if you want color shifting paint which btw is 150 a pint from most distrubters i've found look around find a color you like then match a good price to it.

right now I'm in the air as to what I want. Cause i don't really have a paint shop that works in custom cars in my area. Which sucks. I need to get some education in this field so I can open up a shop. But time restraints suck. Wish you were closer to where i'm from. but I'm just gonna have to look around and see what I can find.
