same thing here but looks like a field of those
Is that repainted or the factory paint. Doesn't look like a rust bubble to me. If it was repainted I would say maybe they got moisture in the airlines when they painted it. If it is water under the paint, you can poke it with a pin head to let the water excape, but will probably still have a defect there. If its repainted do a search for paint defects. Alot of the paint companys have common ones online and some have pictures. Maybe it will help you identify the cause. If it is the factory paint I'd get in touch with gm's customer care and document the call somehow.

Autobody/ paint
I had one of those under my side molding today when i took them off so i could prime the car. I pushed down on it and water squirted out and it cracked, but i am completely refinishing the whole car so im not too worried about it.
take a needle and poke it to see if possible any moisture would come out ,but take alittle bit of clearcoat fingernail polish and dab it.....not too much though. dont seem to look like anything that bad though. i hope not.....hope that helps

rust.. i have a small one on my hood near my head light... i don't care because i am gettin a CF hood sometime soon.
Why would we be rusting already?
Is this something that's covered by the GM warranty?
I'll be pretty pissed if this happens to me.
Mighty Jabba has expressed his concern.
wherever you got your car painted you should probably take it back if they gave you warranty. thats probablly rust . i take it , it has been refinished because you have a body kit on.
Thanks for the info. I got the whole car repainted about a year ago. It is the stock color but the clear coat was mixed with pearl. The bubble was not there but just when it started to get cold, I noticed it when I was washing it. Do you guys mean that there is rust on the surface of the car (beneath the paint)? If I poke it, and water comes out, should i blow dry it and try to cover it with touch up?
danny: take like a little thread needle, poke the bubble(enough in which you can let air /moisture out of it, you should be able to push the bubble in without cracking your paint , put alittle fingernail clearcoat polish over the hole that you poked , and just wait and see what happens in the next few weeks or so. that may fix your problem, hey its worth a try.....hope that helps

take it back to the shop? *WTF
<img src="http://web.bentley.edu/students/m/mann_mich/nonpremium.gif">
Take it back to the shop. If it's rust or it has moisture underneath it, even if it's not rust already it could very well turn into rust. Poking it with a pin could also allow a spot for moisture to get under, also causing rust... even if you put touch-up or clear nail polish stuff on it. I'd fix it asap.
GAL here... no prob... LOL
How often do you wash your car in the winter? If you allow dust from road salt to sit on your car too long, you can get rust/bubbles even on newer cars. I learned this the hard way too.

It is the stock color but the clear coat was mixed with pearl.
you mean the painter mixed pearl in a mid coat pearl you never mix pearl in clear
anyway..........bubbling paint is caused by allot of problems
1. poor prep work
2.sealer,base is mixed wrong
3. body work any dents fixed where body filler was applied (poor metal prep)
4. no sealer, base coat applied over bare metal (causes rust)
5. yes water bubble but in most case`s will never happen due to the water and oil seperator`s in the booth and on the compressor lines
if the shop has a life time warranty then yes take it back let them fix their butcher work
if not your payin allot more for someone`s elses butcher work
but i can not tell what it really is unless i would sand it down to see what caused it to bubble
can i haz bondo
I bet someone was welding or grinding metal next to the car and a particle burned into the existing paint as they were preping it. It got taken into the paint booth were the painter did his wipe down but due to the metal flake inbedding itself into the paint, it did not come out.

1. Poor prep work... yes this can cause bubbles. Note the "s" on the end. Poor prep work will usually cause numberous bubbles, not just one.
2. Sealer and base mixed wrong.... never ONCE heard of mixing paint wrong causeing ONE bubble
3. Body work/dents fixed, filler applied.... ummm... not unless moisture was trapped IN the filler... thus going back to moisture
4. No sealer... this would cause NUMEROUS bubbles... once again. It's possible... but very likely
5. Water does not necesarily HAVE to be behind paint because of water in the paint lines... water can accumulate from pin holes in the metal, and collect behind the paint from various areas of hte car. Happened to my old Sunfire right near the gas door. Found a bubble... sanded the bubble down... found water leaking and collecting from behind my quarter panel. It happens...
Take it back to the shop asap!!!!!

obviously you dont use pearl in the clear everycoat, but you can add pearl to clear, and then shoot regular clear over that
but i would say there is moisture or air under the paint/body work and the only proper way to fix it is sand it out then repaint it

R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
when you guys and girls say sealer... what do you mean by that.. what the whole point of sealer
Thanks again everyone. Hey brandon, your right about the pearl first and then the clear. Well the shop did not give me warranty because it is my dads shop and he rents it out to these guys who fix cars and sell them. Well, when I got the body kit they put it on, molded the sides and painted the whole car for $500. I guess I'll just wait for my hood and when I get it painted I'll tell them to do the quarter panel again. Since it's on the gas tank side, maybe I'll buy an aluminum gas door to be molded on. Thanks again guys.

Take some auto body and paint classes.
