I am planning on getting HPTuner, but i do not have a laptop. The site says you do not need one.. but does that mean i have to get the pro version, or does the satandard version have a data saving thing on it so i can mod on pc, transfer to HPT, then to car??

You don't NEED a laptop, you can cart your desktop computer out to your car to tune with. However, if you want to do datalogging (which I'm sure you will if you want accurate tunes), then you will need the Pro version. You cannot tune the car without a computer connected to the cable, and the cable to the car, with either version.

you wouldnt need a laptop if you had the carted desktop right next to your car, and then had a dyno at your disposal for datalogging.. LOL.

You can use the box to datalog and pull the logs afterwords... thats why there is a record button
So your saying to transfer your changes to the cars computer that you need the cable hooked up to a lap top and the car, you cant just save the tune to the cable and then take it out to your car and flash it?
You would be much better off with the laptop. You can leave it in and do data stream recording while your driving to get a better read of what your car is doing.. record where it acts up and adjust accordingly to it. I bought a new laptop just for my car only.... it will be basically sitting in the car at all times while im driving so i can do tuning on the fly. not yet sure how well that will work.. but we will find out. .... Plus its a good excuse to get a new laptop
Anyway.... shell out the extra 600 and get a laptop ... i mean.. you want to go fast the right way... you got to spend the cash.
