Hey Guys, Quick question i'm still unclear on..... Can HPT be used to reflash from a 00-02 2.4L N/A Tune to the GM S/C Reflash? I understand they work together...but they are a different Operating System from what i've read...therefore does HPT have the ability to change over to the new O.S. that uses Map vs RPM...opposed to TPS vs RPM. Or must a tech 2 be used to make this change? I don't see why it would...but just want to double check.
Thankyou
Kyle
you cannot change from NA to S/C tune, but you can tune either (car must have either NA or S/C operating system first)
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
you can reflash from NA to SC reflash??? when did that change?
EDIT : when I bought it, you could not change the operating system on the 2000-2002, and I have heard nothing about a change.

If I've said it once I've said it a hunderd times...
You can't change the O/S... GM changed it in the '00-'02 (ld9) ECU's. You've always been able to reflash from N/A to S/C to N/A,ONLY on the '00-'02 (ld9) ECU's.
You CAN'T reflash the '95-'99 PCM's to the O/S of a '00>. So you CAN'T reflash them to the GM S/C program...
That's why I've repinned my '96 to a '00 and went to an aftermarket digital gauge/dash setup.

I agree, but the O/S from 2000-2002 NA is different from 2000-2002 S/C.
so how do you change the o/s?

I've done this on 10-12 cars already (including my own). You just get the S/C HPT file, and then write it to a 2k+ LD9 ECU using "Write Entire". This has worked just fine since they supported the S/C reflash.

no kidding, thats awesome news man, I was not trying to sound arrogant, I just didn't think it was possible. That is sweet.

!!! You Guys just made my night!!!...I have one last question then...I allready am running 310cc injectors so i would just need the 2.5 Tmap sensor. Is it true this is the same sensor found on the 2.0 Cobalts. I'm just looking for the easiest/cheapest way to get ahold of one. Or I remember way back when Speedracer said it was the same sensor found on the cummins diesels...
Thanks again!
Kyle
^^^ you beat me to it, I was going to add, that I am considering adding a 2.5 bar map this summer.. but we will see.

I am very new to tuning, so forgive my thread hijack/ignorance.
Am I to understand the 00-02 ECUs are "open" so to speak. If so, is the only reflash available going from a n/a LD9 to a S/C LD9? Reason I'm asking is for example could you reflash an eco ECU, or are they a totally different monster? If it saves me the money of picking up a new ECU at the junkyard....
Once again, forgive my ignorance/thread hijack
There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.
so that were on the subject of the reflash. is there any way for me to use the ld9 ecu in my 01 2200 cavalier. i would realy like to use the reflash with my setup. i hate the alpha-n setup. but it works. just not as great.
DRIVE HARD OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!!!
you can not flash a 2.4 s/c reflash to the 2200 ecu
i said to use the ecu not flash my ecu. read what i said then post.
DRIVE HARD OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!!!
the 2.4 ecu is different then the 2.2 so you still wouldnt be able to use it
LAFNGAS wrote:the 2.4 ecu is different then the 2.2 so you still wouldnt be able to use it
Its only different in 2002, otherwise the 2000-2002 2.2 and 2.4 ECU's are exactly the same, and the 97-99 2.2 and 2.4 ECU's are exactly the same, the only difference is the programming.

so that means i can plug in a 00-01 ecu and use the gm reflash right.
DRIVE HARD OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!!!
correct me if im wrong but 4 credits would have to be used to do this correct 2 to register ur 2k pcm then 2 more to register the s/c os and flash it on ur pcm

one correction...... in 2002, the 2200 used the EcoTec style ECM.

so does that mean there is no way for me to use the ecu then?

you can't use the 2.4L s/c tune on a 2.2 OHV or 2.2 eco...
-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party
