my friends and were about to explore this excellent program, but i couldnt get it to license my car. the port had power but my buddies 99 didnt. but we had a computer driver problem? since its a holiday nothings open so my friends went home with thier laptop. so im a bit stuck cause he lives far away. im very disapointed it didnt work.
any help would be great.

Does that mean you were trying to license the 99, the port didn't have power, and thats the problem? Can you give any more information than that? If the port doesn't have power, check the Cig lighter fuse.

Here I am,
Ok, when the MVPI is plugged into the diagnostic port under the dash of Nick's 1998 z24, the hand held scanner lights up the power button. However, on my 1999 z24, it doesn't.
Here is the real problem.
We follow the three steps to license a vehicle. Lets say Help>license info>HP tab, or Flash menu, read entire...
Now, it comes up with "interface not found, unable to connect or respond..ladalada"
Ok, so here's the thing, when we plug the USB port into the computer, an icon comes up saying "New hardware found, MVPI USB channel A", so we click to install new hardware. It then comes up with a driver that can't be found. Here is a screen shot. , this happened for both usb channel A and B, I don't know the difference.
Any help is appreciated.

Cig lighter fuse was jsut replaced, however i had to use the one from my horn. Would having no horn fuse cause the no power?

looks to me like you didn't load the drivers off the install CD correctly. You have to load them twice for some reason. Look at your information email they sent you before shipping your unit.
Thanks John, I actually downloaded the drivers from the HPTuners site. Nick is the one who bought the program and received all the e-mails. He didn't tell me anything about having to install twice. I 'saved' the drivers to a my memory stick, so when the time comes to buckle down with licensing with hpt sometime soon we should be able to. I am unfortunately in the middle of exams, and have the laptop. So once exams are done, free time should be a little more abundant, and we well be able to get everything done up.
