Can the standard version of HPT tune for A/F ratio and like upgraded injectors and what not?

Sure but you can't input the wideband A/F data into it to do it properly....

I've been tuning without wideband for years using BLM and INT (long and short term corrections). And even when I use the WB I don't use HPT. Wideband input makes life easier, tis all.

Fair enough but you have a TON of experience... for us uber-newb tuners the lack of a wideband = blind idiots changing numbers.
lol... ok, I got your point.
I'd just hate to see someone not buy HPT and burn up an engine because they thought they had to spend more than they had. Most WB sensors will display AFR for you to look at. With patience and some open roads you can watch AFR and make changes to the calibration. The part that's no fun is that you have to drive, watch WBO2, shut down, make changes based on visual AFR readings, upload changes, then do it all again. Kinda like life in the '90s.
