Hey guys, wondering what my options are for tuning my 96 turbo ld9 with 15 ish Psi?
Swap to a 97 PCM and harness. Load the SD OS and HPTuners.
He speaks the truth. The only way to tune is by swapping to a 97 ecu and harness. I did it on my 96 vert(when it wont stay running dont forget passlock) Once you get to this point and buy HPtuners I do have a speed density tune I could send you if you if the ecu doesn't already have it. With that you can install a 2 bar map sensor and 2bar fake the tune and itll be tricked into reading boost.
I would swap to a 97 ECU, but I would not run the SD OS.
Why? Because it is missing some tables that the 2000+ SD file has.
Also some of us have ran in to problems with the 97 SD file. For me it is 50/50.
The 97 SD file does add fuel per map sensor, but it does not actually read boost. Highest KPA is 105, which is not boost.

And I would be able to run upwards to 15psi with that?
And your saying swap to 97 ecu and harness and run a 2000+ sd os? My goal is 350 - 400hp. That would work with my goal?

I was saying swap to a 97 ECU and wiring harness and run a 97 OS.
To run a 2000+ GM Reflash you would loose some gauge functions (you can research that part). This would allow you a real SD OS that was setup to run off a 2 bar map sensor.
The 2000+ Gm Reflash is the best, but you have to deal with the gauge functions you would loose.

But it is still doable with a 97 SD OS?

Doable yes. I think you will get better result on a 97 alpha n OS.

What exactly is that? Lol
or.. you could run a meth kit. they come with boost switches that will add fuel per boost. to fine tune it though you will need a progressive controller. other than that if you do not wish to swap to a tunable pcm (the 97) then you could always do it via an FMU. I don't know that either would be enough to run upwards of 15 psi or not, though. both would not be the most ideal tuning option but at least with the meth kit you can fine tune it with nozzle size changes and as a plus you get much cooler IATs and a HELL of an octane boost.
RIP silver car. You will be missed.
Would I be better off to with a standalone like haltech plug-n-play or something? Lol that just seems like a lot to get it running.
well im sure you'd be better off, yea... but that IS a lot of work. lol

If you want to go standalone go Megasquirt.

It uses most GM sensors and has a nice cost. I have used it and it is a nice unit.

Is it all plug and play? And can I keep my stock Gages?
No stand alone is plug and play with our cars.
I have been talking with haltech they say they are.

I would love to see it. I have not heard of any standalone that is plug and play for our cars.

he said all i need to give power to is my coils for spark. they give the signal but do not provide for ignitor.

I will bet money it does not come with a harness that plugs into your stock harness.
When you say plug and play for a staond alone you mean the ecu plugs into the factory harness and works.
Example: Megasquirt has a plug and play unit for a Miata. You unplug the stock ECU and plug in the megasquirt ecu. load the file and go.
