i have a 98 2.2l cavy rev limiter is set at 3,000rpm my question is what can i do to disable my rev limiter or up my limit to a high rpm if possible thanks
it's not the neutral rev limiter but also in gear and in neutral its limits me only to 3,000 rpms thats why i was wondering if there is a bypass

unless it has been changed, if you are driving it is higher than 3000RPM's. You might have another problem on your hands.

If the neutral rev limit is kicking on while you're driving, then you probably have a bad range switch.
Otherwise, to change the rev limit you'll need HPTuners.

i would imagine you have an auto and it's changing at 3000rpm no matter how hard on the gas you are? or so i understood it. if that's the case, the pcm might not be seeing the car is in gear or the tps is not reading correct

there's something wrong with your car.
why does everyone think that tuning/ changing PCM parameters fixes maintenance problems?

so is it just reading 3000 or is it actually at 300 when the limiter hits?

are you sure the tach is set-up properly?

You have to be over 25mph as well for it to go above the parking limiter. I think the neutral limiter is like 4000?

You need to post up something in your profile showing info about your car/mods/etc. or something. We need to know what you have before you can be helped.
Sounds to me like you have a tach that you hooked up and didn't get a tach adapter for, or didn't get a tach for a 2cyl engine.

in the performance forum is a sticky, I suggest you read it.
also, just increasing your RPM will NOT make your car faster.
But I have a feeling that your tach is not set up properly
The same thing happened to me when i installed my tach. I figured out that it was only reading half the rpm because i needed an adapter. You can go buy an adapter for like 70 or 80 bucks for an auto meter. It shouldnt take you but 10 minutes to hook up.

Limiter? I can rev to redline in neutral if I want. But I wouldn't.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to blow up a 2.2 OHV by doing that, and hitting it in gear several times, every day? It takes one helluva long time. Guess how I figured that one out.
