i have a 97 2.2 and the engine blow up, so i found a 95 2.2 and put it in. when i went to wire it up i noticed there was no cam sensor, it starts and runs but at idle it misses and will die some times,. So i wanted to swap a 95 ecu in to my 97 harness since it does not need a cam sensor to run right, what would i have to do to get this to work? thanks
95 ECU and wiring harness is probably all you'll need.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
You have an issue other than the cam sensor. Your car should run fine without a cam sensor, it will just be in batch fire mode.
Did you happen to put in new spark plugs when you put in the new motor? If not I would start there, get a good set of ac delco or ngk plugs in it. Also did you swap in the original IAC motor or at least clean the new one up?
if you use the 95 pcm, you'll need the harnesd because the 95 isn't OBDII likr yhr 97, you could try using the sensors from the old motor in the 95 motor, not sure if all of them would work though.
