need help with tuning.

My buddy is going to be tuning my car soon, i planned on running the gm reflash so i got the t map and the ss injectors.
But now since he got hp tuners i decided to go with that. He was wondering if there was a base tune that anyone know
of that is just like the reflash so that he could tweak it from there with the setup that i have.

Are you talking about your 97' cavalier? I looked in your profile, and if those mods are up to date, I really dont think you are going to see any major gains. However, if youre talking about a different car, or different mods? then I see why. If you mean stock tune by base tune... look on the repository on hptuners website for a stock tune. If you mean base as in, a tune to get you started, I would suggest reading up on EFI tuning alittle more. Not every car will tune exactly the same. Many factors go into play when you tune; every car is different no matter same model, year, milage...etc. Read, read, and read some more on forums and HP tuner forums, and it will help! tuning is a science, not plug and play. I am still an ammature myself. But if you need help, I'll try to help and tell you from my experience with HP tuners, its tough and you gotta start somewhere. After having HP for almost 2 years now, I still have issues.

Ahhh boosted makes sense. I wouldn't ask me for advice on that LOL. However, first thing I would do before boosting is install a wideband O2 sensor the proper distance from the turbo itself. One thing Ive read over and over again, if you do not properly tune a boosted engine and it goes lean + PSI = boom. Tommorrow, or asap, order a wideband! Then do readings on how to tune a boosted engine (I'm sure its a close to the same process as N/A)... I've read you want a AFR between 11ish to 12 under WOT. Read and take your time, don't blow your engine from being too lean.

I have just put a turbonetics T3 super 60 turbo in my 2000 cavalier and need to get it tuned asap. Does anyone know how i can get a CHEAP tune? I spent all my money on the turbo so now im pretty much out.

trust me there is no cheap way to get a good reliable tune, just save and get it tuned right, unless u meet a really good person like i did that is willing to invest there time (and i mean a lot of it, like cavfan1 did for me) tuning is the most important part, u can have a $3000 turbo and it wont mean jack with a half ass tune, so to save urself the headache in the long run just save up some money and get with one of the megasquirt or hptuners guys. there may be someone on here that has a 2000 cavy that is turboed already that can get u started, but i would also suggest reading up on how to tune onur own so that u will know at least whats going on with ur car.

if it can't win a race it better win a show

ya i hear ya. it looks good. it has a full body kit, carbon fiber hood, spoiler, lowered 2 inches, exhaust, aftermarket rims, and the interior is done in the same color as the car so it not like its just getting started. The problem is that I'm only 17 and don't have a job right now.
