im finally on to the ve tuning portion for tuning my 2.4 turbo. ive read the faq over and over but im still confused. how do u get "- Wideband AFR" to be a paramater that u log? does this mean that i need to connect the wideband to the unit? Also, as far as using the histograms, since i have the 2 bar i use the high and low rpm ones....what is the defining line between high and low rpm sub 3k or plus 3k or something? so if thats the case. basically i set the paramters, i do 2 logs basically. one low, one high rpm and then i smooth them out with the paste multiply? is that really all too it. as u can probably tell im quite a bit nervous on this and ive been working on this car far too long. im ready for it to get done.
The wideband will be an auxilliary PID. You may have to tweek the formula so that HPT matches the gauge.
Once that is working, you do like you said, log in open loop and paste special the AFR % error in the high and low RPM VE tables. I usually set the minimum cell hits to 5 in order to avoid freak readings and get a good average. Smooth the tables 2-3 times and repeat until you are consistenly less than 2-4% AFR Error.
The high low cutoff is 3800 RPM
How do you set the Cell hits to 5? I am also in the middle of doing this
i dont get this at all but im gonna attempt it tomorrow evening. hopefully it works out for me.
under the histograms there is a configure button - for each individual table you can set the number of cell hits to display a value.
The key is to use the axes on your high and low RPM VE tables to log AFR % error, that way you can just paste the histogram data into the VE table and your that much closer to 0% error...
your wideband needs to be plugged in to the HPT box, pin 1 for wideband, and im not sure if you absolutely have to to pin 5 for ground i think

if you are looking at your HPT box with the green plug on the left side and the lettering facing you, the top is pin 1. i use the ground, but a buddy of mine doesnt and it still works.. so it may not matter, or it might..

I have my grounds for the LC1 on the engine block
I do not run a ground to the HPT box at all
Make sure you check for a Ground offset
hmm...so u use one of the 2 wires from the lc-1 cant remember which (yellow or brown) that are not in use right. and then connect it to the first pin and ill be good to go? do u guys just push the wire in or use female connectors for it?
I used the Brown wire for my Gauge in my dash
I programed the Yellow wire for a Wideband signal
Open the screw on the HPT EIO and slide in the wire, tighten screw
Good to go
Check for Voltage offset
open HPT scanner. open HELP file.
read.
goto HPT forums and look up how to do voltage offset.
done and done.
you spent the money for HPT, the help file tells you how to do everything you could possibly want.. why not use it?

I agree you should read more. I have been lucky and use the PID for the LC1 already with HPT and it is on dot for me. I know others have had to do voltage offsets.

my club bought hpt as a group. its one thing to read something but people interpret them differently. when im unsure i like to ask so i can see others' take on it. im not retarded, i just like having the best chances of success along with help guides and peer responses.

apparently my friends already wired it up so that i can just connect it to my wideband and a ground without too much effort. the last thing im trying to figure out is how to set the parameter on hpt to scan the wideband. will it show up once its connected or can i set in beforehand? i plan on tackling this tomorrw
