Here is a new HPT issue for everyone....

So I flashed PJs 04 Manual stock tune from the HPT repository to my car so I could play around with it and see what could be done with the cranking VE tables it has which the 03 OS does not. (See HPT Forum Thread)
Despite being able to solve my idle issues with some new 79lb injectors, I have a new problem. For some reason the 04 file now gives me TPS readings in the range from 9% to 87%. I verified this by flashing the old 03 file back. Worked fine, then flashed the 04 file back, disconnected battery for several minutes, back to the same TPS issue. I even tried a new TPS sensor (specifically an 04 sensor even though I know they are all the same). Its almost as if there is something different about the 03 hardware than the 04 hardware causing the computer to pickup the inputs differenently. I don't know if maybe theres another module besides the computer that could be causing this, or if its just another F'd up thing GM did. It would be interesting to see what and actual 04 ECU would do! I am at a loss, 3 days till the bash and Im trying to get this stupid @!#$ dialed in.
I'm going to have to go back to the 03 file now and try to make it work.

Here we are on the 04 file, anyone got ideas?!?!

electronic throttle control tends to yield those readings

our throttles are not electronic.

you have to change which TPS value you're logging, I had the same problem for a long time.. you have to do just the straight TPS, not the SAE value

open up the scanner.

go into the table display
make sure it has "throttle position" thats it..

the pid is under the engine -> general tab "throttle position %"

that will give you 0-100 display.

Mine did the same thing, except I have two ecms, the 03 ecm goes 0-100, and the 04 goes 9-87 (with cranking ve)

It's not a setting you change. I tried that.

Not so PJ. I was tuning a 04 cavy this past weekend. Got the same thing as well. When you are in the 3800+ RPM in PE it goes from 50% to 100% in the VE tables. Also in the Low RPM Single fire it goes from 75% to 100% in the VE tables. From my datalogging the computer is using the 100% fields even tho it showed 87%. I think GM did something weird.

Guys, PJ is exactly correct. For some reason with the 04 OS the Default TPS (SAE) is off, follow his instructions it works great. Also regardless if you setup a new TPS pid, the Histograms should still log data in the correct fields according to what I have seen.
Note you will have to save your Scanner Config once you make changes and re-log.

Thanks PJ, one less thing to worry about.

I just looked at my scanner, the pid list had sae tps %. It seems right after I put in the 04 ecm it started reading 9-87%. So i'll check it out tomorrow.

IIRC, the GM Reflash only goes to 89% or something like that too. I still blame GM. haha Thanks for the tips.
