OK i have a 03 ecotec from a sunfire that im putting in my 93 s10 (this is no bs its going in) i have the full engine harness with the fuse box, and pcm. now heres my question could i simply use the harness for just the engine and cut out everything else that i don't need. like the connections to the tranny and ect.... and then get the interior harness and cut out everything but the bcm and the OBD port.
Then using my hptuners turn off all the sensors and such that im not using? our would i be better off getting MS?
I will also be using the stock computer from the s10 to run the fuel pump, speedo, tach, and for the starter.
it's so easy to swap a v8 in those that you are going to make baby Jesus cry...
Talk to PJ, he might be able to help.

Why do what everyone else does?. + i already have everything i need.
I can't wait to see this when it's done. i've been contemplating this swap myself. turbo eco swap in pre obd2 truck so I can get around emmisions .........

yea that why im doing it. i think im going to use the sky mounts cuz they look like they will almost be a bolt in deal. or im going to make a bar in the front and use the top mount on the eco to mount it in. i just need to make sure that by cutting out everything i wont need on the harness wont mess it up starting.
well I found the post
is the S10 just a daily driver, or is this going to see some track use?
if so, I'd start looking into stand alones and ditching the factory sunfire ecu.
You have a 93 so you don't have to worry about OBD2 garbage (obd1 is a lot more flexible and easier to bypass)
YES you saw lol.. its going to be daily for awhile then MS for when its built and turbo'd. but for now im hoping i can cut out what i don't need and turn the codes off. i just got the Saturn sky mounts and brackets ordered today. and the tranny adapter will be ordered in like 2 weeks.
again whats the purpose of the car? thats kind of important
if you want to keep the factory cluster it would be best/easiest to just use HPT to labotomise the car and keep the tach and speedo working, but if your really not that conceared about a factory cluster just ditch the harness like said.
read up on MS and pick one up there easy to work with and they cost about the same as a piggy back.

boobs now with Riboflabin"
and exactly what transmission do you plan on using there mr. posa?
01' Z24 5 speed
422whp/400wtq
T4 Turbocharged
Built LD9
HP Tuners
don't worry mr. douchebag. its call a transmission adapter.
your a little f*cking a*shole. its no wonder why everyone hates you. go kill yourself.

I'm confused as to why that just happened
short and simple i know him personally. ( wish i didn't) lol.
but an update i got my engine mount brackets in. there off the sky turbo 2.0 and my trans adapter (from my t5 to the eco) is being made. The only thing i need to figure out is if i can block off the evap stuff. and be able to cut out everything i don't need on the harness and be able to shut everything i'm not using off with HPT.
and as for what the truck is going to be. is a daily driver for awhile. then after my 2200 turbo is done im going to throw on a saab kit and go from there.
updates?
still wait on the transmission adapter. (i'll have it around the end of the month) and the head from my eco is getting new valves put in.

well right now im still getting parts together i have to find a new transmission the t5 i have the bell housing doesn't separate from the tranny for the new bell housing to bolt on.. and i need to track down a eco interior harness. its been a slow month as im moving in to my new garage so i have somewhere warm to work on it.
oo and for anyone wondering how much the bell housing was, it was 725 shipped with the new hydraulic throw out bearing
I hear ya on the somewhere warm to work in...I'm outside for my job and i never feel like going back out in the cold to work on the red car....stupid cold weather
just keepin me from my stich welding....
I can't wait to see pics on this project.
update started mounting the eco in.
as far as wiring goes im getting the interior harness next week.. does anyone know if the engine will start if theres no bcm?
no it will not and if you dont have the pigtails that plug into the ecm to tune off the theft system it wont run but for a couple of seconds.that is my poroblem right now i have all of the harness but my efilive will not find the calabrations so i have to buy the pigtails or get someone that tunes all the time to tune it im building a circle track car and started with a 98 sunfire with a 2.4 and im putting a o4 ecotec motor and trans and wiring but the security system is keeping it from running.
well i have hptuners so i can turn vats off which is the security system right? but what i dont know is if i need the bcm to use hptuners or if just having the ecu is enough.....
Distributor bolts in place of the factory power steering pump on EcoTec engines this works great with megasquirt this is the way i would go then you can do what you want to you truck man keep the trucks system in tack and everything will work. every easy no gm ecu that has limits !! and the evap dont worry its not needed block it
GM Ecotec 4 Cylinder Distributor
Part No. 8498 from MSD hook it up too the megasquirt and run the injectors as well everything else stock and sell buring rubber when you spin those tires
I would love to run that but, that way the engine sits in the truck the power steering flange is about an inch away from the firewall. and thats with hitting the fire wall back. i guess its a good thing im not running PS.
I just put the cab on the truck tonight and found this little problem as well with a few others. looks like im going to have to move the engine forward a little bit more, but i dealt i'll have enough room for the distributor.
well me and a friend did this swap a few years ago.. thats what we used yea its a bit close, but do able you have to sit the engine far forward but you dont have to worry about the cluch fan because you cant run that anyways. ran the fans on the other side of the rad too this gave us more room.... now ares was auto so im not to sure what your looking at but we had more room then the 350 small block for the distributor clearance hope this helps ...
