I've been bouncing around the idea of getting the GM S/C kit for my 97 sunfire. I know there are two different ECM's that came in the 97 cars... Is there any EASY way for me to find out if I have a SD ECM?
Its a 97 (duh) 2.4L 5 speed car. Also, I have seen many people talking about "faking" a tune since the 97 ECM doesn't read boost. What component changes would I have to make to get the s/c running in my 97 if I DO have a SD ECM?

Without seeing your file from your ECU we can not tell you if you have a SD ECU or not, but my guess is you do not.

Speed density = Map vs RPM.... Alpha N = TPS vs RPM...
Only way to see is to scan it and read the file with HPT. I can do that for you if you wanna drive up here again
If you are getting the supercharger kit, you can have the dealer do the charger flash, which is speed density.

I could be wrong but I thought the dealership was unable to put the supercharger reflash on pre 2000 jbodys

As far as I know, no one ever decoded a vin break for the SD/Alpha N.....or any physical differences in the computer....
