Just purchased a DB Blue kit from Karo
Wondering what the ideal location for the sensor would be? Going to instlall it in my Pacesetter header
I wanna give Shifteds VE tuning a shot, what would be a good AFR to shoot for N/A? I know this varies per car and engine but what would be a good start?
I have a modified tune right now but guessing going back to stock and starting with Fuel tuning and making other adjustments from there would be best?
How do you tune for higher octane Fuel?
Thanks for any help
i Installed mine 18in away from the head and i think a good afr for NA is around 12 - 12.5
There should be a manual that came with the wideband. It will say how far to install the wideband, and I believe 18 inches away is good. Read the manual. Let us know what your AFR's is on the stock tune under WOT.

Ok will do that once it arrives
Should be here today sometime
Thanks guys
how much did you pay for it.....i want the same one
Ordered from Karo at Carcustoms
Get ahold of him he is great
Would disclose the price on here cause Karo doesnt like it but if you PM or Email him he will get back to you FAST

I just received my Wideband DB Kit from Karo
I was going over the install instructions
Wondering about the Brown and Yellow wires, how do i hook them up the HPTuners MPVI? I won't be using the gauge right away cause i don't have a gauge pod yet but when i do how do i hook up the Gauge and also to the MPVI at the same time?
Can someone recommend how they installed their kit into a Cavy to be used with HP Tuners
Just wanna get it right the first time
All help is appreciated
Thanks

i have the lc-1 with the db gauge in my trans am and in my sunfire. i never tuned either myself but when i had the trans am tuned with hp they plugged it into the serial out and in plug on the controller for the o2. The that reminds me of a head phone jack. The gauge though you just wire up like you should. Hope that helps you out.
also did you get the serial cable for the plug that plugs into the computer?
my bad didn't realize what a HPTuners MPVI was. Sorry about that. From what i read the thing uses 5v sources so is what inovative says: The default analog outputs are as follows: Analog output one (yellow) is 1.1V = 14 AFR and .1V = 15 AFR. This is a simulated narrowband signal. Analog output two (brown) is setup as 0V = 7.35 AFR and 5V = 22.39 AFR. All you got to do is take your lap top and use the serial plug. Get into the controller and change the settings for the analog yellow wire to the same as the the brown. The run your brown wire to the gauge and then the yellow to your hptunner thing.
that sensor goes in the number one cylinder location in the manifold as the #1 cylinder is the leanest??? thats what court charles at innovate told me. i mounted mine in the turbo mani in the #1 cylinder location like he said.

Anyone have any input that has used an LC1 and gauge with HP Tuners?
John?
I know that the Brown and Yellow wires are what i wanna use but do i have to attach another wire to them so they can goto the Gauge and MPVI at the same time?
Does it matter where on the MPVI i plug those wires in? Does both of them go there?
Any other helpful wiring install tips?
Thanks for any help

The Brown wire has to go into the MPVI interface. You might have to add some wire to it (depends on how you mount everything and where). I'm not suing the yellow wire because I do not have a gauge.

Ok cool thanks
Brown wire to the HPT MPVI
Is there a particular port on the interface it has to goto?
Ive been reading on the HPT forum as well as some other sources
I would like to know how everyone wired these LC1s for a Cavalier
Did you tap anything from the stock 02? Anyone running a LC1 as a Narrow and Wideband?
Would like to know as much about the wiring before i tackle this so i know what works best for us
Thanks everyone
i just did this. i got the bung welded in then i wired it all up. best thing to do is install the software they gave you and go to the manual for the wiring diagram i hooked my wb to my hpt with the brown wire that i T off of (cuz it goes to my gauge too) i pluged the brown wire into the first plug on the top of the hpt. then you T off of the white wire and plug that it to the 5th plug from the top of the hpt. then you have to get on your laptop and go in to the hpt scanner `open the tables left click on input one and select lc1 from the list then go to the histograms and sent your pid to the lc1. hope that helps. you also could use the yellow wire but you have to reprogram it like luke said.
ooo and for a power wire to use to turn the lc1 on when the ignition is on is the PINK wire in the steering column. well at least for my 98 it is.

the wideband sensor has to go at least 18 inch's way from the turbo. if not the heat will burn it out.
Is there a Wire i can tap into for Power under the hood thats Ignition activated? Something that is easy to hit
I am going to wire it all up under the hood and just send the wires into the car that i need such as the brown one. What is the white wire used for that goes into the 5th spot from the top?
Thanks for all the help so far

you will have a white and blue wire are grounds.

I did not run my white wire to the HPT interface. All my grounds are together for the LC-1 in the engine bay.

So your just running the Brown Wire to the MPVI then John into the 1st slot at the top?
Any other helpful tips?
john you didn't have to run a ground to the mpvi?
