Since I have the GM s/c and reflash on my 02 2.4L, do I need to fake a 2 bar map sensor? I should be able to modify the GM tune, right?
Correct. The GM reflash for the 2.4 is tunable with HPT.

wrong, the m45 s/c reflash is tunable with hpt
Oh jesus @!#$ christ!!!! That I'm aware of there is only one 2.4 charger kit from GM, which happens to be the same 2.4 he has in his 02 Z24. What I answered was correct.

my bad john, i totally misread

To the question.. .You dont need to fake a 2 bar tune. The reflash makes it a 2 bar tune. YOU WILL NEED A 2 BAR MAP SENSOR. Else the car will run VERY rich

So the GMSC reflash is a true 2 bar tune netting us a larger grid to tune with? Or did GM just fake it for us?
Faked it for you and rescaled the values.... I'm sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we can't see.

What all is blocked out in the reflash anyways?
I mean, compaired to a stock ecu with a fake 2BAR and fuel, timing, spark blah blah blah touched up a bit, what are the differences?
and finally, which is better. A completely custom tune done from scratch, or re-flash as a base and build from there?
I'm brand-new to HPT/tuning in general but i've been reading quite a bit of faking a 2bar, raising rev limiters, adjusting spark and timing. Really just looking for a bit of guidance before i buy HPT or even touch my ECU. (what to do versus what NOT to do)
Thats the thing... we are all convinced HPT didn't unlock every table in the pcm for us... just "enough" of them to satisfy us.
The GM tune still runs on the same table sizes... you can literally copy the GMSC tables and paste them into an Alpha-N PCM... all the values fit.
GM basically rescaled the tables to 2 bar from what can be seen and then changed the values as necessary. But that's all we can see.
I'm almost certain there is more going on behind the charts that we can see that makes the tune work and be completely smooth.
For ease of use with a 2k+ LD9 I'd have flashed the GMSC tune in 2 years ago... sadly I'm stuck with the 98-99 pcm so I'm faking it. Sometimes you gotta do things the hard way.

Oh ok, i understand. So i guess i'm going with the reflash lol. thank god i've got an 01
. How much is it to get the reflash done at a GM dealer? Unless someone knows howmuch an untouched reflash goes for, though-out the JBO community?

Do you have HPT already? If so load the Gm flash yourself. Cost about the same.

cost me $75 for the reflash from GM.
