ok so i completed my 5 speed swap, but i have a few problems... first thing is the car is running like crap, i havent changed anything with the engine, but i do still have the auto pcm in it. So could this cause this to run like crap? Also the starter sounds like its grinding, the flywheel is from a 96, so will my 97 starter not work for it?

I drove my Grand Am for a week with the old PCM. I had lights on (check engine, trac off) but it ran fine. I would say something else got wrecked with the swap. Sorry, can't answer the flywheel question. Were they exactly the same size?

the only problem i have with my swap is i don't have reverse lights .and a check engine light. i can get the light to go out but as for the reverse lights i dunno

i didnt check to see if the flywheel was exactly the same size but i did come from a 96 Z24. All my CEL are related to transmission, but i still get a rough idle. i did replace the timing chain tensioner and i was sure i set it right. The car runs fine when you give it some gas but besides that it idles terrible

Souonds like you idle issue could be a timing issue. Starter might need a sim to sit correctly.
