I would search about the SAFC's and our cars.

That should give you come insight into problems with them, and why they arent going to help you out.

BUT, sounds to me like you did something wrong in wiring it up.

tell us what code it stores than maybe we can share insight.

Feel free to ignore statements like "That should give you come insight into problems with them, and why they arent going to help you out." from the uninformed.

I'm not sure if the 96 runs A-N or SD, so I'm not going to say it doesn't work, the 97 runs SD so I can only assume that the 96 does as well.

You need to check your wiring, most likely you spliced the wires and you now have a bad connection. The best way to install the SAFC is to splice it in near the ECU, not by going to individual wires around the sensors (it says this in the SAFC manual). I'm pretty sure that you have a bad splice or have spliced into the wrong wires. Does the SAFC appear to be operating normally (shows the correct MAP, TPS, and RPM)?

If you are getting a high MAP signal, set the SAFC back to have 0% corrections and reset the ECU, then tell us if the code comes back. Any other codes are probably going to point you towards a bad wiring connection or incorrect connection. Where did you get the wiring diagram for the 96 when you installed the SAFC?

i actually splice the wires same as you guys do .. close to the ecu .. it reads throttle, rpms and TPS signal just fine .. i got the pinouts from a post here in under tunner topic following this link http://projectwyldfyre.com/techarticles.html..................
i did reset the ecu and still same thing happen ... and followed the installation guide from a post like SAFC install guide .. in know that its not the same but kind of similar .. and ive read that there are few people that have followed that from diff 2.4rs and have worked for them

i dont think will be the SAFC i think is a coil failing because i took out the sparks and looks like there is one that its not working properly ... ill change the coils anyways to see if the problem its there and ill let you know guys but other than that,

any other advices ?

thanks to all for helping me out

The reason for my "comment" was that not all 97's, nor all 96's run SD, there are some that are A-N, which doesnt work with the SAFC. I just wanted the OP to make sure he understood that before asking for further help. I am not the "uninformed", nor am I an expert tuner. Sorry if it came off that way.

If you think it is unrelated to the SAFC, what are the codes? is it a misfire, did you check spark? theres lots of things that can make it "look like its on 3 cylinders"

you need to make sure that is your problem, then rule out each posibility.

Does the problem go away if you disconnect the safc, or set all corrections to 0?
