My buddy is getting ready to turbo his 2.2 cobalt AUTOMATIC and hes gonna need a tune... So someone told him that noone has cracked the 2.2s with hptuners is that true? I know a ton of you guys have tuned the 2.2 J'S isnt the ecu the same??

Also my buddys getting ready to purchase hp tuners to tune our cars and i think hes expecting to just buy the program or kit and be able to give a good tune... dont you need a wideband or access to a dyno to get a well tune ... should i even let him touch my car if he's expecting to tune with just the kit from them?

At the very least you need a wideband. That's for a good street tune. For an actual power tune, you need dyno time.

Don't let him touch your car.

You can't use the GM SC Reflash with the Cobalt. It's for Cavaliers/Sunfires only.

EFI Live, Megasquirt or a complete stand alone. It's a few more options for tuning go check out css.net.

doesnt it depend on the year of the 2.2 or are all the cobalt 2.2's the same ECU? i thought the first year or two were supported. anyways, check around on the cobalt forums, had a guy with a 2.2 ion tell me that someone had finished cracking the code for them.

no cobalts, no ions, no L200s. The only eco 2.2's that got support from hpt are us with ecos in j bodies

ive tuned numerous cobalts, they were the LSJ though..but im assuming there different

ya the lsj and the 2.4 eco (LE5?) are different ECU's than the 2.2 eco in the deltas.

i wonder if the 1.8L eco from the astra will see support...

yes the l61 in anything besides j-bodies isn't supported by HPT. Well as long as you use the ecu we use i believe its E16? don't quote me on that I'm not to sure of the name but any other 2.2 not using that pcm, hpt doesn't support.

We use A black and blue connector on our pcms, they use 3 connectors on their pcms.

No L61 eco support for the HHR's. They run some weird computer. The 2.4 HHR's get all the love.
