Dyno Question Inside

I plan on going to get the chevy dynoed this weekend. How do they hook up to read RPMs? Do they tap into any ignition wires going to the coil pack? Also what gear should the pull(s) be done in with a 5spd?

An inductive pickup will measure your RPMS... And being 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio, it should be used... Don't sweat it dude.. The dyno operator will (atleast should) know how to do everything correct...

That's a pretty flat torque curve.

Why did you cut out at 5700 rpms?

I noticed that earlier but i didn't put too much thought into that. I got some nice numbers and thats all i pretty much looked at. This is how it went. Before we got started I watched one of the guys who worked there, drop his pen in the drum as they were strapping my car down. They just left it there. Paid for three pulls. The first and second pull read something like 164hp and 200tq. I was puzzled because I was figuring I would get at least close to 200whp. After that 2nd pull they noticed that the MPH wasn't reading. Dudes Pen broke the magnetic pickups on the speed sensor. They replaced the pickup and gave me two more pulls due to the mishap which is what you see on the dyno sheet. I do remember the guy hit my rev limiter on the second to last pull. Why the graph falls off at 5700 on both, I have no clue. A friend of mine which I went with also pointed it out.

Some guy dynoing his car there said the AFR will be about .5 leaner because the reading was at the end of the tailpipe and the fact I had a high-flow cat. I will double check my AFR once i get my bung welded in and wide-band hooked up before the cat. But even so it may be running lean up top.
