Should I get a wideband O2 when I go to install HPT and where would I get one from?

Im using a AEM 6 in 1 wideband for the megasquirt in my mustang. It was very easy to install, comes with an analog 0-5v output AND a data output.

I got mine from www.promustangperformance.com but you can probably score them on ebay pretty cheap

yes you should if you want to tune your feul. you can get one from anywhere that sells gauges. they are pretty much universal

A shop aroung here told me that I can use the professional version of HPtuners and only use a wideband without the gauage. What is you guys opinion on this.

Yeah because the wideband will be using as datalogging, but you NEED the gauge so when you are actually DRIVING, you can keep an eye on the AFR mixtures.. so you wont blow your engine up if you go too lean.. and without the gauge, you wont know the car is running too lean until its too late..

What would be a good gauge? The shop will be doing the tuning on the car. Can I get a guage without all of the datelogging equipment?

any gauge will work just make sure that it is a wideband and not a narrow band narrow band is nothing more than a light show that you don't want get a digital that outputs numbers on it and you'll be fine

you dont need a guage if you are just using the wideband for tuning purposes. once your AFR isset, it shouldnt change

A gauge is a safety precaution. Just because you think your tune is good, there is a lot of room for error. An injector could get stuck open or closed, Your regulator could take a @!#$ on u....alot of things could happen. I suggest you get a gauge as a safety precaution trust me. better safe than sorry right?

bringing this back up..

What is the better choice Innovate or AEM?

both are heated wideband 02's right? i know the AEM one is for sure but what about the innovate one?

Yes they are both heated wideband o2's both have thier advantages and disadvantages, but are both decent units, and very affordable. I think if I were to do it again, I would get the Innovate one, because you can buy a sensor for it at the parts store....perhaps even with a warranty, where as AEM you HAVE to get the AEM sensor, and there is NO warranty on those.

I have the Innovate LC-1. Love it. You do not need a gauge because it has a program that shows real time AFR's so If I'm worried about my AFR's I take the laptop and watch the screen. Price is right as well.
