Injector Drivers?
Thursday, March 13, 2008 2:43 PM
Alright I have a question about our injector setup on a 04 ecotec. They are High Impedance if im not mistaken. I was looking for 1000cc injectors and cant find any in the high impedance. So two questions actually. 1) Does anyone know of some 1000cc high imp injectors? 2) Anyone know any parts, knowledge, or how-to, to change from high imp to low imp? I know hondas have some kinda resistor box or something that they use. So If anyone has done this or have any info on it i would really apreciate it. Thanks

RC Engineering makes very high CC high impedance injectors.

Finding ultra high-flow High Impedance injectors is going to be difficult. I'm not stating with 100% certainty that 1000cc H.I. injectors don't exist, as I am sure that somewhere, for some reason, they do. I also believe that you are correct in that RC's "Saturated" injectors do top out at 750cc. However, your search for 1000s in the High Impedance category will be difficult, as in most instances, as the size of the injector increases, the operating cycle of saturated injectors is proportionately slower than that of peak-and-hold. Subsequently, when dealing with large volume injectors, H.I. injectors can not adequately handle the load placed upon them. Basically, they are either in an "on" or "off" state. As you call for fuel, they turn on, no fuel, they turn off. So again, as size increases, so does the required power, and repeatedly slamming large injectors open and closed is ultimately a recipe for failure. Low Impedance injectors, in their initial movement to open, will call upon a great deal of power comparatively, however, once this is achieved, the injectors remain in an "on"-state, and very little power is required to maintain their cycle. This is why, on the flip side of the coin, you will be able to find Low Impedance 1000cc injectors, and beyond, with minimal effort.

do you really need high IMP 1000cc ? the only reason I ask is because if your actually going to need 1000cc injectors then your not running off of a stock PCM, and if your not running off a stock pcm it should be very easy to switch the program to run low imp.
