I hear HPT will work with the 97 ECU but not with the 96. I swapped my cars ECU to a 97 and it runs just fine. For me, it was simply plug and play since my car already had the 2-plug setup. Will i have any kinks or snags in HPT once i decide to get a tune after i set up my turbo?
Im still runnin with the "96" PCM and harness.

Im also running the OHV 2.2l motor, non-eco.

Okay, good. So that means as far as me having the 96 - 97 problems, there should be none.....??
But, the ECU that i pulled the car from has the ECU manufactured in Mexico, not Canada. Ive heard that HPT some times has issues with the ECU from Mexico. My VIN# shows that my car was manufactured in Canada though. What happens if i run into some software kinks regarding that?

Did you find your ECU here?
Which one of these does it look like?

Uhhh.....whoops.....No, i found a different box that has 2 plugs of wires attatched to it underneath my dashboard. I thought that the PCM was located up there underneath my front bumper, not the ECU. So, what was it that i changed out??? I coulda sworn it was the ECU that i swapped.....guess not....
So....uh i guess i need to go back to the junkyard and pull another ''ECU''....

ECU=Engine Control Unit,PCM=PowerTrain Control Module,ECM=Engine Control Module. = Same things...
Different people call them different names.

Yeah, i know about all the different names of the ECU/ECM/PCM etc......but, i changed something out thats NOT the ecu...?
I dont know what it is that i changed. Its a little steel box that has ABS printed on it, and has 2 harnesses attatched to it, each harness holding ~15 - 20 wires on each, and its located underneath the dashboard on the drivers side of the car. Theres not really a better way i can describe it.... Its also located next to the fuse box too.
Also, i know that when i went on the first ''test-drive'' after i installed it, when i WOT-ed the car, it shut off for a second
, my headlights went off, and it turned RIGHT back on, but the open-door chime was going for ~5 seconds. I havent had a problem after that.
I coulda SWORE it was the ECU i changed though...oh well.... (i have a feeling im about to hit a brick wall in this project....aka ecu to harness issue.)
