My Official Dyno Tune numbers!
Sunday, November 11, 2007 1:43 AM
Hey all,

I guess this is the best place to put this. If not go ahead and move it.

I just got my car back from the shop after it being gone for 4 months. It got pretty much a full build and tune. Mods in sig. This tune was on a 1 bar map. I wanted to keep the resolution in the bottom end to keep the gas mileage up since this is my daily driver. This is what is possible on 15psi and a conservative tune with HP Tuners.

Max HP 284.56
Max TQ 297.58

I have the dyno graph but i can't put it up. I am deployed and these gov computers don't let us do too much. I would email it to any one so they can post it just give me the email. I will send as a JPG.

Thank you.

I would love to. But I am deployed till mid Feb. I dont think I could walk my wife through it. I will share it when I get home. I will also post on HPTuners site in the tune suppository. When ever I do get it out there keep in mind that I am using 750cc injectors @ 42psi. As well the car was tuned in Albuquerque NM. The altitude is 5,300ft . But yeah I will post it first chance i get when I get home.

I dont mean to be a prick, but i just want to point out that altitude doesnt matter with turbos. N/A cars lose HP with higher altitude due to the air becomeing thinner, but the thinner air allows turbos to spin easier, which compensates for the loss of power due to thinner air. Thats one of the reasons tractor trailers are turbocharged instead of being all-motor. But anyhow, congrats on the numbers, im hoping my ECO will be showing hte same numbers someday.

Altitude does matter. Not so much when it comes to the turbo its self but it sure does on the track. My car ran .4 faster and 2mph faster at sea level. That was back when I was stock with just Hahn stage 2 bolted on -- no tune just FMU. The thicker air does make a difference. As well, why would the dyno software calculate corrected HP if altitude doesn't matter?

Yes I do know that 8psi at sea level is still 8psi at a mile high.
Oh and for comparison purposes. My N/A 96 Z24, that I used to have, went 14.5 in Hawaii and then when I ran it in Albuquerque the best was 15.4. Altitude does make less of a difference in boosted cars; it is just not as exaggerated at N/A cars.

As well good luck with the build. I unfortunately have yet to drive my car since the full build and tune. My wife on the other hand says it is scary fast.

I will admit that my statement was only partically correct, I have not build a turboed car yet or have dynoed one at different altitudes. I was basing it on what i learned in college, classroom theory only(no real word experience). What i learned was that turbos were actually called atmospheric compensators back in the day and helped keep the tractor-trailers for losing power with increases in altitude, (Diesel Technology Major). Sorry i "ruffled your feathers", the last thing i want to do is become part of the JBO Drama Club. I know i proboly shouldnt have opened my mouth, but everyone puts their foot in their mouth from time to time, this was just my time. Also, check out youtube for turboed 04 cavys, i found a vid of one raping a 5.0 mustang foxbody on the strip. I thought it was pretty amazing sence the cavy launched horribly. And congrats again on the numbers.

That Cavy you saw raping the Foxbody, If it was white with black pinstripes, that was me. The guy who posted it his Screen name is EclipseGTT. He has a couple more vids of my car. He actually has my old best time on tape.

Hey all,

I have some great news. I have walked my wife through posting my tune on HP tuners repository. I am still waiting for them to approve it. Hopefully that goes through with out a problem. It will be a preatty good starting tune for eco's with turbos.

Thank you.
