fmu

Hey guys, I'm looking for some info. I'm piecing together my own custom turbo kit for my 2200. I'll be running a t28 garrett turbo, intercooled, with 48# injectors. I bought the kit from a local member and he told me the kit included a Kenne Bell FMU. I know alot of boosted people on here are running cartech but I was wonderig if anyone had any experience with their fmu's and if they are good. I was thinking of getting a cartech fmu but if the kenne bell fmu is good enough I might just keep that. Any info on them is highly appreciated!

no more cavy...now 240 =]

I see a cool-air intake
It's got a NOS-fogger system and a T-4 turbo
I see an A.I.C. controller
It has direct port nitrous injection
Yeah, a stand-alone fuel management system
...Not a bad way to spend $10,000

48lb injectors are way too big, unless you have a fully built engine, even then, 48lb-ers are on the large side. You'll never get it to idle right with those with just an FMU and even an FPR. To put it in perspective, I have a 2.4 with a T3 Super 60, dyno'd 240hp/280ft-lbs at 7psi, FMU turned down to 1:1 and tuned with HP Tuners. Idle fuel pressure is 28psi on 42lb/hr injectors, and I'm still idling WAY rich. I took my intake manifold off and its soaked in gas, and I blow black smoke (too much fuel).

thnx for the info, like I said I bought the kit from a local member. I figured I might have to replace some of the things that the kit came with....after all it was only $450 for turbo, BOV, injectors, fmu, intercooler, downpipe, and intercooler piping. So after reading what you said, your running 48#, your tuned, and your still running way rich. So is there a way to have it not run rich? If not, it's cool I guess I can get some 36# injectors. I plan on being tuned by HPTuners, I was gonna buy it this spring but I have school issues so all my money is going to that.

Can't this be corrected with injector constant?

Kinda, injector constant is only part of the fueling equation. Can it be solved, yes, is it as easy as the injector constant, no.

^ Difference is, you have a built Eco with a nice turbo kit, the OP has a 2200 that even if built, probably isn't making more than 250hp.

I appreciate the info on the injectors, although I do have one question. If I was to get 36# injectors, would I need to modiy my fuel rail or do they just plug in and play? I've read a few posts about someone gettin 36# injectors from a Cobalt SC but they also get the rail from it too.

Also, I'm still looking for some info on the original question....does anyone know anything about the Kenne Bell FMU's?

Like I said, I appreciate the info about the injectors....I'm just trying to get all my research first while getting my kit ready.

Dude, 48# injectors are not too big. Im getting ready for my own turbo setup, but i put them on the car to test them out. Idles fine. with an almost stock engine. I got it to rev up fine running pretty close to the commanded AFR. Injector constant is pretty much a complete fix, and maybe a little of Idle VE tunning.
