I dont know about you all but i am getting REALLY pissed at hptuners. First off me and wrenchmonkey had problems with 2002 cavy's in generaly, Took us awhile to get the new update. Then it didn't work for wrenchmonkeys car and he had to get a different version from a different guy.
Now about 2 months or so later after getting the update it doesn't work on my car. wrenchmonkeys older version doesn't even work on my car ... so idk... any on else having this much problem?
me and freq-z had issues with hpt when doing his eco swap in his 02
first we learned that on 02 eco program won't work with the 03+ computers. then we got a 02 eco computer and it wouldn't work untill we downgraded the hpt version.
we ended up going back to 2.18 and that seamed to work fine for us
If I'm weird and everyone else is weird, does that make me normal?

Are there any error codes, or a better description (aka, more than "it doesn't work")?
What DOES it do when it doesn't work?
Basically it will not connect to the car through the editor... gives you the error like the car is not in the RUN position.
hey man... just go back a few revisions, make sure you're using XP, and you should be alright. that's what we had to do on my car.

thats...odd
gonna have to see if it still works on freq's car today then if he is up for it

hpt is very twitchy tom.. i've had trouble with mine from time to time too
usually takes 5 attempts to get the editor to flash the ecu
my scanner is twitchy as well.. sometimes doesn't record certain variables, or has weird readings (-40 degrees intake temp for example on a 56degree day)
after stopping and restarting the scanner a few times and checking everything reads right its usually ok
but shoot hpt some emails they should be able to help you out.
you may want to check your fuses just incase. there is a fuse for the port the scanner uses. it wasn't an issue for us but its worth checking anyways
oh and make sure the .net stuff is up to date from microsoft

My copy of HPTuners stopped reading on my car all together, complaining it wasnt in the RUN position. Its happened several times... I find that if I disconnect my ecu and plug it back in it usually does the trick... but thats just me, not sure if you guys are having the same issue. It also takes me 8 minutes to flash my car, compared to most people's like 2mins? It's either a buggy program or I just have a bad computer on my car.
" To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous. "
Only issue I have had is with a 97 ECU and it was one that had not been seen. Email HPT support the file and they got me a new version. I have Vista on my home PC and have the new version on it with no problems.
FU Tuning
let's not all blame hpt now....
I currently have one pcm that just wouldn't respond at all swapped it out with one from an 04 malibu and flashed my settings, worked fine.
and before the one that doesnt respond started acting weird My original pcm got f'd up somehow and Needed to be reflashed with a tech 2 back to stock. (needs the crank relearn variant ran)
I am now on my 3rd pcm.
Only time I have ran into a problem like this is with a bad ground or a short somewhere in the car.....

I am going to have to figure out whats up, it might be my car it might not be idk. My cruise control doesn't work and the cig lighter on passanger side of center dash doesn't work eather. i piggy packed a set of LED's on the cig lighters power wire but idk wtf happened. It worked one time and the next it didn't.
I like the way the hole HPtuners is set up and all but Im getting kind of pissed ... I email tech support and it takes more then 3 days to get a responce back, sometimes longer.
I will check the fuses again and figure out what the problem is.
I also had some problems when i first got it took about 2 months to actually do anything. I had to download there new version that they decided to put out after all my b1tching
COMING SOON! VERY NICE!
Did you guys try this? ------->
close both the editor and scanner and then go into my computer, then to your hard drive, open your program files and open up hptuners open your vcm suite 2 and look for the file marked vcm Suite.cfg
And this should take care of your problems i had the same issue on my buddies cavi and my ecotec swapped 2000 cavi it said it couldnt locate the vcm, and i read on the forum search on hp tuners that this was the quick way to fix it and that they were making an update. and his fixed it for me so good luck this is also with the newest version 2.2 on vista.
