Major HPT question...
Saturday, December 01, 2007 3:01 PM
So i bought the base HPT software. And yes ive already heard that i should forked out the extra money for the more advanced one so please dont tell me that I already know. Me and my buddy took my car out for a drive today with everything hooked up and basically couldnt get the software to do jack $hit. I have read forms and what not about HPT but still have no idea how to even edit anything. I ran the scanner for about 50 mins while i was driving then tried to import that into the HPT Editor and it keeps saying bad file or something like that contact tech support @ their email address. Is there a form on HPT site that goes thru the basics on how to work this stuff???

First if you go to HPT site, there is a link to the forum. Secondly sounds like yopu are trying to import the info you recorded in the scanner in the Editor part. You do not sdo that. You need to read the file from your car first. Have you done that? You use the info you record in the scanner to make adjustments in the editor. Hope this helps.

You read the file from your car when the car is OFF, well you have to turn the key to on but dont start up your car, then connect the cables to your laptop then read the Stock tune from the car then you can edit it in your HPTuner software..

Theres actually a problem with it. I emailed HPtuners and they are looking into it... Everytime it tries to read the file after its downloaded it keeps saying "Definition failed to load. You will be unable to edit this file. Please email this file to support@hptuners.com with a VCM suite info log" Any ideas?

I have read the HPT forms and done what it says to license it. To download the stock file from the car then when you try to open it it will ask for the license. It just keeps saying the above...

This simply means that the file you pulled from your car is not one that HPT has seen yet. If you e-mail them the file you read from your PCM they will create a new def file so that you can edit your PCM. I had the same issue with a Z24 I tuned during the summer.

Do what the program is telling you. Email them the file.
