HPT reflash delay??
Monday, October 01, 2007 2:02 PM
After reflashing my ECU for the 36lb injectors I started the car and let it run for 10 minutes. Turned it off let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Took it for a drive and did some datalogging. First log (just a couple minutes after leaving) my injector duty cycle was exactly the same as it was with stock injectors. My next logs showed a much lower duty cycle. Is there a delay in the ECU accepting the reflash? Thanks

could be that you were in closed loop because the car had warmed up .. maybe the ecu was using the fuel trims that it had stored previously

I believe there is learning curve for the ECU. I believe shifted has commented on it before as well.

Not possible.

There is a single memory chip and it is completely erased before the new info is written to it.

Yes, the re-flash is there right away, Like miller said.... but sometimes it takes a little while for all the new parameters to fill in the data tables.

I hope that made sense.

If it is not possible then why did I have the same duty cycle as before on my first log?

same reason why when we reflash mine it takes it some times before the Short term and Long term fuel trims adjust themselves to the new information. i ave found its best to datalog after a day or two of driving on the new tune file. kind of makes dyno tuning one of these cars pointless now if the changes are not instant.

The quickest way to make it relearn is to disconnect the battery for 10 seconds and completely clear out the computer. I started to notice my car would idle like ass and stall every time I reflashed with considerable changes, disconnecting the battery completely eliminated this and Ive tested it several times by flashing with the same tune, not disconnecting, then next time, disconnecting etc.

ya ive noticed that too. you can also disconnect and touch the terminals together for like 15 seconds. it i supposed to clear out the short term fuel trims.

mine would stall too after a flash, rouhg a bit rough. dumb question are you suppost to rewrite the whole thing or just update it? any harm in deleting everything?
