relocating odbII port?

i remember seeing posts where guys had located ports for rs-232 in their cars before...
anyone moved the port itself, what kind of room is there in the harness?
i'm thinking over by the passenger cig lighter may be a good spot, the idea being so its not around my leg when the hpt box is connected

Yeah, people have done it. It can be put anywhere if you feel like extending the wires, but I'm not sure there is a lot of slack in the current harness.

BTW, RS-232 doesn't have anything to do with OBD-2. OBD-II is J-1850 and ours run something called VPW. In order to use RS-232 with VPW, you need a converter box to go between the two protocols and translate one to the other, and back.
