Before I get too excited; Gurus please look at this

List of vehicles using same ECM

Well as long as the link works you may see why I am a little excited.

The ECM that the Cobalt SS uses is the same ECM that the New Malibu uses. The Malibu has the same engine as us 2.2 Ecotec Cavaliers and Sunfires. SO...(correct me if I am wrong) If we switch out the ECM of our Ecotec for the ECM in the the Malibu/Cobalt SS we can run the SS's Calibration on our engines. Wiring should be minimal. Anyone with HPT and a friend with a Cobalt SS can switch over.

This is only worth while if the Cobalt SS is Speed Density; is it? What else am I missing to make this work besides Pin Outs for both ECMs?

Its not that easy...

Wiring is a huge problem, the new 2.2's are fly-by-wire, and talk through CAN. Old system is cable driven and talks through VPW. It would take MAJOR re-wiring to get it to work, along with trying to cram a cobalt or malibu cluster into the J dash...

I didnt see cavalier/sunfire in that list. Too bad, that would work if the cavalier/sunfire used the same pcm.

Assuming the calibrations could talk to the J cluster too, which i dont think chevy would even try to make happen.

One thing we noticed about GM pcm's when going through them, they made them real cryptic.
