I talked to this guy from dynotec and he said for dyno tuning with hp tuners which he has he charges 550 for tuning is that way 2 much?
i think so. for $100 more you can get hptuners software and do it yourself
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
with the datalog features available on HPT, you can measure everthing to the crank, basically giving you a portable dyno. if you want to get it dynoed to see what you are putting to the wheels, i would suggest doing so after. a few passes on the dyno wouldnt be that expensive, plus if you want this route and purchased HPT fo yourself, you could make changes when or wherever you want.

I don't think it's overpriced, it costs $100 for just the credits to unlock your car, and then figure out what dyno time is worth, and the tuner's time is worth, you'll get a number in that range. So it's cheaper than buying it yourself, you assume none of the risk associated with doing it yourself, and you get dyno proven results, instead of "seat of the pants, I think it's faster than before" results.
Datalogging is a good way to help you tune on the street, but it in no way is a substitute for a dyno. A dyno tells you definitively if you made more or less power with the last changes you made, and where in the powerband you made/lost this power. Datalogging is for tuning for safety, dyno is for tuning for power.

i think its a bit over priced. my boyfriend tunes cars for $215 for cars that are n/a or that come supercharged or turbocharged, and he charges 315 if you are n/a going supercharged or turbocharged. i think 245$ more than his most complex tune just to use the dyno, is still a bit expensive....
and you cant get hptuners for $100. hptuners is 500-650$ varying on what version you get. and only if you are purchasing credits for one car is it 100$. (but you must have the access to software to do that)
let's see cost for dyno time. Anywhere from $60-120 an hour for the dyno operator, then you have to pay for the tuners time, plus $100 for the software unlock which is what I would charge to just LOOK at your computer.
I don't see that $550 being so much money at all.

Price seems pretty good. I have seen better, but the average price per hour for a dyno is $125. People keep saying you can buy it your self and do it for that price. Well you can get HPT Pro for $650+ tax and shipping. I paid $705. You still do not have a dyno to use to tune. Yes you can street tune, but Dyno tune rules over street tune. Also you have to either know what you are doing or learn (which takes time). $550 is not bad.
