as the title states, what about these cars? Im debating on wether to buy one or not. these cars go for cheap here, u can usually find a good running one for around 1k. what can these cars do as far as performance goes? im not talking about engine swapping or anything, im talking about simple upgrades like bolt ons? how do they compare to a J body, are they at least faster than my 2.2 ohv? oh yea and do they get better gas mileage? thanks
P.S. If anyone knows any good paseo sites let me know,
I've seen a few turbo kits for them, but as far as bolt-ons go, you'd probably do better trying to find a site sort of like this except about Paseo's.

A friend of mine had one and he called it a PaCrapo
Paseo = glorified Tercel. you can get a couple of body kits for them, but there's not much available in the way of performance.

^ ^ ^ yup a tercel hatchback. I'm not adverse to the sahpe of them, i almost bought one the other week, but they are not performance cars. Good on gas, yes very, so long as the engine is in good shape, and they are very reliable. They only weigh about 2200 lbs so they are light, there is a swap you can do, but it's nothing major. A stock one will run 16's.

16's? 2 seconds faster than my cav lol so far they sound like good cars, gas mileage seems to be extremely good. and i actually do like the way they look (I saw some on cardomain). i might get one

I have a 92. Not a performance car. Fun to drive though. Mine averages about 36 MPG in town. When I lived in Phoenix, I averaged 40 MPG, and that was a mix of interstate and city. Stock HP range for a 92-95 is from 100 to 95 (California), and the 96+ has 93 HP. As for reliability, I have 196,xxx miles on mine. No big repairs, some of them being like the clutch, waterpump, and CV boots. I have spent less on repairs then the repairs that were done from 2000-2002 to my g/f 97 Sunfire she had. It was bad when my car was more trustworthy than the Sunfire, and mine had 100,000 miles more on it.
Performance parts are out there, but limited, and might be hard to find. Yes, there are turbo kits as mentioned above, but I don't know of many that have them. For the price of those, you are in the range of a 4EFTE swap. They do have potential, but at a high cost.

^^ funny thing is a 100 hp paseo is equal or faster than a 2.2 cav. not to mention its much more reliable (from what ive heard), and manufactured by a much more respectable automaker. having said this, tell me where a 2.2 cav is superior to a paseo?

paseo is made by toyota, so even in its worst condition, its better than a cavalier/sunfire.
i'd say get one, especially if you can get a deal on it. if i could come across a tercel/paseo/corolla for a decent price i'd probably get it and sell my cavalier.

well aside from the little spat here, i just wanted to add that Paseo's are awesome little cars. I have driven one, and have wanted to purchase one for quite sometime but have never been able to find one when i looked.
My friend had a black 93 paseo with a weapon R intake, header, and muffler only, and ran 16.3's at the track.
Anyway yeah fun zippy car, very reliable.

thats was so off topic and has absolutely no relevance to what were talking about. were talking about a car, not about proper use of the english language. i could care less if the person giving me useful info on a car doesnt know what periods are or how to spell, point is, theyre contributing to my question. if u wanna talk about proper english, go start a thread in off topic titles "who write a better sentence" or "who can spell better?"
I would say they are just an ordinary car nothing , Tercels/Paseos weren't the best Toyotas around. Typical japanese product... underpowered
