Toyota is considering building a so-called heavy-duty pickup truck to compete against such large trucks as the large version of Ford's F-150, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Jim Press, president and chief operating officer of Toyota's American sales unit.
Press said Toyota is "studying" the possibility of adding a super-sized version to the upcoming, redesigned Toyota Tundra lineup.
"Capacity exists within the resources of our engineering and development" to add a heavier duty version of the new Tundra truck Toyota plans to launch in late 2006, he said.
