hey i heard redlines run low 14's when i read on the net theyre hitting like high 14's to low 15's stock. So does that mean they could probally crush my s/c 2.4 when theyre stock, what are your opinions.
Didn't SCC test a S/C'd Sunfire and found that it ran 14.1 or something?

if I remember right, it ran a 15 even, totally stock except for the S/C, but then they found out the computer was reading a misfire in cylinder 3, so the computer was backing the timing way off. They projected that if it was running well, it would have ran low 14's
so far the fastest redline ive heard of has ran a 14.1 , has exhaust and a pulley
a redline or cobalt ss/sc should be able to beat a 2.4 s/c with ease , stock to stock
our 2.4tc with a s/c has to have larger tb , header back exhaust , to get colse to the HP they are putting to the wheels , most have seen over 200 whp stock
I would say a S/C J-body would be faster. Even than my SS Cobalt with no mods. More displacement and lighter weight, do the math.
also dont most supercharged jbodys, with the stock GM charger run mid 14's? While the SS S/C is high 14's low 15s stock?

A S/C 2.4 J would probably match or slightly outrun a S/C delta. Both setups average about 200hp right? I figure it would be a drivers race, plus the j-body is a little bit lighter.

and ive got header back 2 1/4" exhaust , 59mmtb , and cai , 16lbs 17" wheels with azenis sports

Pretty much. The best times I've heard of for the LD9 S/C are high 14's, and thats with an excellent driver. Most of the times I've seen have been low 15's. With a good driver, a Cobalt SS S/C or Ion Redline will run a consistent 14.5, which means the S/C Deltas are about a 1/2 second faster, on average, than a 2.4 S/C.
Cobalts SS S/C's and Ion Redlines put down between 200-210HP at the front wheels, which is about 20 to 30 more WHP than a S/C LD9 puts down.
Also note that the 2.0 Ecotec was built for boost from the start, whereas the 2.4 was built to be N/A. The more mods you add to the 2.4 and the more power you make, the better chance you have of blowing it up, especially considering its not a very strong motor to begin with.

Nobody cares what *you claim* to have seen. Obviously the people you've "seen" aren't very good drivers, because as I said in my last post, the CSS/RL will run a consistent 14.5
with a good driver. Meaning someone who actually has some experience with the car and knows how to drive it well. Its not that difficult of a concept
Take a look at the trap speeds - your S/C Z24 traps at 91MPH, compared to the CSS/RL's trap speed of 98MPH. That quite a big gap, 7MPH evens out to over a 1/2 second difference in trap times, both drivers being equal.
So your 14.7 1/4 mile is about the best your car is capable of, considering its 91MPH trap speed. The SS and RL trap at about 98, meaning that its capable of a low 14 with an excellent driver.
Most people aren't professional drivers though, which is why I say the SS/RL is good for about a 14.5 @ 98MPH while the S/C Z24 is good for a low 15 @ 90MPH. You can;t argue with the trap speeds.

Jon (airtonics) from the org. has a supercharged J. He was on stock muffler and everything with just the SC and at the BASH this year he was beating ss Cobalts left and right, and his car wasn't tuned properly at the time as well if I can remember.
Again it comes down to the driver always, but cars without LSD take time to learn to launch correctly.
I would give the slight nod to the j-body, but with a reflash on the redline or SS it would be another story.
I honestly think once the GM s/c comes out for the ecotec J's this spring, it will beat/run right with the cobalts/redlines
whatever setup airtronics has, if the GM setup is pretty much the same then watch out cuz he's running like low 14's with no other mods
I am running 5 psi with the gm s/c, and a slew of other mods,i am not afriad of a cobalt/redline at all. I would like to see how i would do againest a modded one.
( i got respect for them cars and like them alot)

Doesn't airtonics have the M62 though?
I believe a J with the M45 would have a hard time beating a stock SS or RL with a decent driver.
