More Scions are coming

Toyota is considering adding one or two vehicles to its youth-oriented Scion brand.
Toyota wants to keep Scion a relatively small franchise that sells only about 150,000 vehicles annually. Nor does the company wish to split Scion from Toyota-brand stores.
"If we separate Scion from Toyota, what does that teach Toyota dealers about a young generation of people," Toyota said. "It would defeat the purpose of Scion if we did that."
Although Toyota declined to tell in details the types of additional Scion vehicles are being considered, they ruled out a gasoline-electric hybrid because it was too expensive. But a convertible is a possibility, as are vehicle-personalization options such as bigger wheels, sporty suspension, more powerful engines and spoilers.

you'd only have that option for a new celica for another year or so.

hybrids dont do much
especially when you have to concider the impact that the battery disposal will have on the environment

Correct me if I'm worng (and I apologise for getting off topic) aren't the PRius batteries NiMh batteries?

The reclaimation of those types of batteries are pretty easy... If they were NiCad batteries, then you'd have problems. The dielectric in the NiMh batteries is recyclable, and so are the metals. I don't see how battery recycling is the problem when a finite gasoline supply is a bigger issue.

If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.

They need to build more of the existing cars.

I've been wanting an xB for a loooong time and every dealer I go to to test drive one "sorry we just sold out of our last one yesterday. but if you leave a deposit and let me jack up the price because they are so ub3r rare, i can do something for you"

No thanks, I guess i'll just have to take out a loan and try eBay.

and anyway
people obviously dont want hybrids that much
or why would the market share only be 1%

Re: More Scions are coming

^ because of the amount of time GOOD ones have been on the market

any and all hybrids pre prius were just not practical for alot of people. the insight is absolutely amazing, but too small for most people. and everything before the insight and prius were not worth the money.

check numbers per year since release of prius. you will see hybrid sales rising every year.

and plus in the past most people didnt not know or understand the very real threat of gasoline not being a feasable and practical form of fuel for motor vehicles in the very near future.

still
you want companies to bend over backward to fight for 1% of market share
its not going to happen

Re: More Scions are coming

they are STILL way too overpriced for the average consumer to own.
