Project Fairlane (Progress Thread)
Monday, September 19, 2005 12:04 AM
Well guys and gals, instead of making new topics each time I work on the car I'll just update in this thread (like doublez who as an amazing car. I miss my vert).

If you havnt seen before I am currently working on a 1957 Ford Fairlane.

Any way I went shopping for some goodies today.

Hey look what I started today, SANDING, PREP, PRIMER!!!

And even my gurly has been getting into it (she aint bad folks!)

Here you can see that one side is lightly sanded and the other side is what it looked like before. Lookie there, some paint.

And she took a picture of me.

I shall update when I do something new other than sanding and what not...

Oh, I'm, still trying to get her a name, so for I got Christine.

Not many people know that Ford actually outsold Chevy in 1957! I think the 57 Fords are gorgeous, but many complain about the "bug eye" look.

BTW- She looks good, homey. Good luck with it!

What's it got in there, a 292? 312? What color are you planning on painting it?

yeah its the 292 with the 3 on the tree tranny, Im going to be painting it flat black with a satin coat. Im thinking lime green as the secondary color.

UPDATE!!!

Well I've been very busy with moving out on my own. Working full time master control at the local CBS affiliate here. Anyway found a brand new master brake cylinder for the Ford at NAPA for about 97 buck. Not a bad deal, only down side the bottom bolts fit into the firewall and the top ones dont allign at all so we'll have to drill two new holes but thats ok.

I drove her for the first time yesterday. Only down the street and back a few times but it counts!

As of now she can be driven, but for small distances. The tires are quite dry rotted and Im going to throw some used ones on for now. Wide Whites when the body is actually done. The stock rims are going to be sanded down and painted older ford lime green. I figure the hot rod scene has enough flat black and red so Im going to something a little different. I'll probably get some pictures up next weekend when we make those new holes. Maybe get some body work done as well.
