I was in a bookstore and i saw a cover of Automobile magazie and it said "Solstice Rocks." My parents were looking into the car so i got it to see the review. It seemed kind of slow to me.
0-60: 7.3 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.8 seconds
Doesn't that seem kind of slow for a car that is rwd, 5-speed, and 180hp weighing 2900lbs. I would think it would be more in the low 15s. Do you guys think the test was acurate. Maybe it has something to do with those 19" rims...i dont know, it just doesnt seem as fast as it should be.
seem right to me. Also from what was on the sticker on the one at the NOPI show it only has like 170hp.
Seems right too. Considering how heavy it is.
This car is made for spirited driving not strait line rocket. IMO the car is dire need for a Vortec 4200 I-6 (290HP/277Tq) in place of that anemic I-4.

Its only like 200-300lbs more than a j-body, plus it has more power and tourque. I dont see how that much weight can make that big of a difference.
Does anyone have any other times for the solstice?
I personally would rather have this
i cant freakin believe GM put the 5spd from a truck(colorado)in it
worste part is top spd of 120 = wtf
I doubt thats its physical top speed, and are you SURE its the exact same transmission aka not modified in any way?
I'm just saying I think the car deserves a LITTLE more credit..

2007 G85 SS S/C: 10/23/2006--Present
Vote for me at
Motortopia.com! Thanks!
agreed ^^ and im sure over the years the hp will increase.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
most reviews i've seen of the solstice actually give it the nod over the new miata (mx-5)... that's saying quite a bit since the miata is pretty much the quintessential sports car according to alot of these auto mags...
i'd have to drive one before i pass any judgement on it...
they look kool but i don't think i would ever own one.

only thing different between the 2 ransmissions is the shifting , the gave the solstice/sky a shorter shifter , and different shifter rails for improved shift speed
i think the turbo eco will be better than the vortech engine
they didnt change the ratios of the gears at all?
what is the rear ends ratio?
The Solstice is a blast to drive. Another 50 whp would makes it even more fun, an extra 100whp would make it killer.
^^^ And up the price tag in lock step.

Some people are like slinkies: Not really good for anything,
