hey guys my friends wanted a bit of sounds to her cougar so i installed a performance muffler on it which was pretty loud on my car, after it was installed its barely louder than stock, what can i do to give it a bit more of a growl to it, withouth goin header, high flow cat, etc. can i remove the resonator would that maybe make a dif? or is it just a quiet motor? i couldnt belive it wasnt loud.

My friend has a APC muffler on his bone stock cougar and that car is LOUD.

Try taking out that resonator and see what happens .

increase pipe size will DEF make it louder.

so will taking out the resonator.

go to a muffler shop prolly cost 100 bucks to get some custom piping bent up an dwelded from the cat to your muffler

thats the thing she doesnt want the cat-back this was done strickly to give it a bit of sound she doesnt care about performance. i'll try replacing the resonator with a piece of exhaust pipe hopefully that will do it for her.
this muffler used to set off alarms like u wouldnt believe (sorry to all) but u can barely hear it now. i hope the resonator will solve the prob.
thanks guys.

My best friend had a 01 cougar, I think it had 3 resonators. He put a piolet muffler on it and it was pretty loud. Then one day we got bored and cut the whole exhaust off from the catback, that was loud as hell.

wether it adds performance or not. going with wider exhaust piping MAKES IT LOUDER.
