The next Saturn Vue
Tuesday, September 13, 2005 9:50 AM

The Opel Antara GTC mid-sized SUV unveiled by General Motors on Monday at the Frankfurt auto show is more than just a concept. It is the next Saturn Vue. At a media sneak preview, GM said the Antara will go into production in the fourth quarter next year, and that it represents Saturn’s future design direction. The Antara concept will be identical to the future Saturn Vue. GM will just rebadge the Antara and unveil it as the next Vue at the New York auto show. They can build it in a U.S. plant, and it will be identical. General Motors Europe designed the Antara with U.S. production in mind, both in terms of U.S. regulations and plant assembly.

Side note:
***Insiders have said the next-generation 2007 Saturn Ion also will share the same design language as the next Opel Astra***.

Interesting dual side mounted exhaust.

Awesome that the rear windows roll down.

That looks crazy with the rear windows down like that.

Agreed. But I like the FX too. Actually I like the Murano better.

Anyone notice the roof? Its like one big sunroof (with a strip down the middle). I dig it. If this is the direction Saturn is going, I give it a thumbs up. The Aura gets a big thumbs up from me too.

Other Opels has that design in production, if you like that roof design then you will like the Opel GTC as it has it too.

odd looking yet i dig it....wonder how awful GM will screw it up "for real" when they actually make it. If it looks exactly like that, homerun.....but i highly doubt the makers of the Aztek can seriously bring anything this nice to the market.

Saturn is blowing me away lately. That thing is incredible considering it came from GM. (at least the opel version)

1st SUV i have really liked, rather than tolerated,... ever!

With designs like this Saturn may actually pull itself out of the tupperware grocery getter image.

2 Doors really, 2 doors?

i want one.

Looks like a Beefed Up Chrysler Crossfire

I love it, but i'll believe it when i see it at the dealer

^^^^ Ditto, i'd also like to add that the Opel astra hatch is the same car as our Cobalt and there's a world of difference between them. I firmly belive if GM makes this they will dumb it down as low as they can go.

Yeah... I saw that and thought, "Wow. That actually makes the name of the vehicle (taken as VIEW) make sense..."
