anybody heard anything on these? i just saw a commercial advertising it yesterday and i didnt even know they were redesigning these. hmmm... but i guess theyre putting the v-8 back in the ss. anyone know anything else on them?

Its true, have not seen a commercial yet, but if you go to chevy.com it will tell you that the SS is going to have a small block V8 in it 5.3L 303hp ... and its RWD!! :p *drool drool*

the monte and the impala are still on the w-body platform, all of which are fwd. it's got the same V8 that the GP GXP has. it's actually quite impressive the time they're puttin down already. just not as many mod opportunities as the L67 or L32. as for the redesign, i thought it was mainly the front half that got fixed up. i dont like it, though. it resembles the previouse gen. too much. the one where the monte's and the impala's look the same, except for the 2dr 4dr thing. just my $.02

eh, the impalas aren't so hot-looking...
i like the grand prix GXP a whole lot, though. plus, the poncho has more than just a big motor... it has the brakes and suspension to round out the whole performance picture
i kinda like the redesign... and the specs of it arent bad either. 303 hp for the SS, and the 3LT and the LTZ are puttin down 240 hp. not too bad.

GP GXP is getting the 5.3 too.... It's a Caddy (STS? help me out here) engine.
MotorTrend had the typical "it's GM so it's so-so" write up, but at least they got their facts and figures right.
Andy: I don't think it looks at all like the old Impala. Much more curve and way less angular... also, the odd headlights are gone, and the big plastic valance panel were tossed.
I think they did this to bring back Police fleet buyers. They'll probably need to get a RWD version of that interceptor to really attract fleet buyers, but what do I know.

It is a 5.3L OHV 16V V8, while Caddy uses a 4.6L DOHC 32V

eh, to me it looks like the old ones just in the grill. i like the current impala grills, but i didnt like the previouse gen's. i dont know, it just doesnt look finished enough for me. i dont hate it, though. i'd still get one.

looks similar to a cobalt to me........is this the new thing to the big 3.........the new chevys all look like cobatls, the new doges all have very similar styiling......all have truck looking front ends, and fords just suck........guess im never gettin rid of my cavy, at least it looks different

Whoops....my bad...it was the new monte carlo that I liked not the impala. Impala looks ok though i guess.

The new Impala looks like ass to me, but the interior is way nicer.
When my wife seen the new commercial she thought they brough back the Cavalier. LOL at GM for designing nothing special again.
