Hey everyone I've been trying 2 decide what car wuld be best for a sweet ass street car and im torn between swapping a 350 into a 84 fiero or getting a 92 laser rs awd ,turbo. what do u guys thing im just so confussed and really can't decide oh and price range im figuring 2 be around $4000cnd So andy input wuld be helpful and I'd like 2 hear from fiero and dsm owners of any known problems blah, blah, blah
Thx for ur time and input.
well i dont have any experience with the awd setup because my laser is fwd. i can tell you though when you turn up the boost these engines haul like no other. the cars are solid, hold up good, corners way better that a j, stock internals can take a good punishment, lots of tuning software out, and lots of support.
the thing about the awd that i constantly hear is that when your engine is built up nice and good, that after a while the high rpm awd launches take a toll on the trans. if that happens you can buy a rebuilt shep racing one and never worry bout it again.
thx for all the input so far I think im leaning towards the dsm just because of the whole practicallity thing. plus If I were to put the 350 in a fiero how would it affect the handling?
dsm no doubt, you can take $2000 and run 11's...

I myself have the personal belief that people who can't even formulate proper sentences or spell common words, have no place being near any kind of "sweet ass street car".

well, since you asked me by name, it all depends on what you want. there are quite a few fast dsm's out there. it'd be the easier way to go about it, and garunteed fast. but you'd get lost in a sea of small, quick cars. on the other hand, a 350'd fiero would be a pain and cost a lot, but it would be unique. i have a feeling the handling would suffer from a 350, as well. lots'a guys are swapping L67's in them now'a days. but yeah, it depends on if you wan a fast compact "me too" car, or a muscular ugly duckling of the pontiac world.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors
'97 GTP 14.06@100.6mph pre cam w/ 3.5" pulley, I/E
that is why i stated a turbo eco fiero
light engine gobs of power handling is good to go
or maybe a ld9 if you need some more weight in the rear of the car

Hahaha so I was typing reasonable fast and miss spelled a couple words, if you don't have anything thing nice to say then you can just p!$$ off. Ha ha is this post spelling up 2 par Mr.Perfect?
Oh yeah I decided I'm going to go with the dsm.
350 fiero doesn't cost a whole awful lot. you can get a kit for 1500 bucks with eveyrthing you need minus engine to drop a chevy small block in a fiero.

If you want to drop one of those in there be prepared for MASSIVE understeer. Rear swaybars and upgraded coilovers are a good idea. Iv'e driven a couple, and trust me, it's fun, but hairy as hell
Sappy said what I was going to say: a Turbo/SC Ecotec and the Fiero Transmission (IIRC Getrag) and you'll have something that's practical, fast, really maneuverable, and really light.
The only draw back: Stereo.
