those numbers are awesome!
Those numbers sound truthful, except for the top speed. With a 7K redline, 505HP, 0.31cd... top speed should at 200-205mph.
The braking numbers does look accurate either, it should be lower.

so you know that a 05 or 06 z06 here will be $85-90k
and a 03 cobra was about $45-50
so for 35 to 40k more it's not a contest?
i'm not anti corvette at all
but you act like the two cars arent' in the same class
your right it it's not, it shouldn't be, at almost twice the price

the two arent in the same class
the vette was designed for a road coarse
it just happens to do mid 11s in the 1/4
compare it to fords super car the gt
twice as much and not really faster
you could put 30k into a gto, a cavalier, w/e and make it faster in the 1/4
from what i was hearing from my boss,uncle and a few other people the z06 is not called the z06 any more from 05+ its going to be called the Z16

Completely inaccurate imformation.
I've seen the 2006 Corvette
Z06 in person, driven my GMPD Head Engineer John Heinricy, and it clearly had the letters "Z-Zero-Six" on the side
As for the people comparing the new Z06 to the previous-gen Mustang Cobra, they aren't even close to being in the same league. One is an unrefined, heavy, overpowered Muscle car, while the other is a Supercar that rivals some of the best exotics.
Saying that the Cobra is better because "it can be made faster for half the price" is like saying a turbo Geo Metro is better than a Ferrari because they can run the same times. Seriously, think about what you are saying before you make foolish comments.

the # z06 has been around since the 60s or 70s to denote the race ready packages

The extra drag is mostly coming from the very wide 275/35-R18 & 325/30-R19. Air does not go as smoothly when thy have to meet a wall of rubber the size of the Great Wall of China underneath.
Which is why the standard C6 has lower cd of 0.29 verses the 0.31 on Z06, thanks in part to the "skinnier" tires. What also helps tremendously is the hatcback design too. Eitherway the car itself is very slippery in the wind by supercar standards, which they usually hover from 0.33-0.37cd. Engineering was well done here on GM's part.
I still stand by this car is capable of over 200MPH top speed. Because the cd is low, 505HP, redline at 7K and tranny from the standard C6 not the Z51 package ( w/ wider cogs), since the Corvette always achives top speed in 5th.
That 200MPH speedo on the cluster is not going to suffcient in this Corvette.

98-02 LS1 camaros run close times to 03-04 cobras..... camaro is in the same class as mustang. which is almost 10k cheaper then the mustang. vette is in the class with the gt40 and viper. which is cheaper then both and speeds are simular.
