Chrysler may build minivans to be sold in the U.S. under the VW brand, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Handelsblatt, a German business daily.
An agreement could be reached when officials of the two companies meet next month at the Frankfurt auto show.
VW is interested in having Chrysler build a minivan based on the Town & Country and Caravan which are built at Chrysler's plant in Windsor, Ontario the story said.

There goes the neighborhood. Just when volkswagen gets a name for themselves and distinguished themselves as a differnet kind of car company, and the "People's car" they have to go and F-it all up. Not a good career move on their behalf.

Just what we need another miniloser in already flooded market.Let's see gm has one for chev, pontiac, buick, saturn and chrysler umm and dodge,oh lets not forget fords versions, and yet nissan and toyota ,honda.I would not consider this a wise move for vw.As it is now those things lose value so fast due to overproduction.
... I like Chrysler minivans...
They're a great bang for the buck item and an affordable
largefamily mover...sure there are BETTER products, but
their pricepoints are totally out of whack.
Having said that, VW has made the mistake of overpricing
themselves out of the north american market with their
"premium" vehicles... I have NO ideal how they'll be able to
pass off a Caravan (even a town and country) as premium
item.
Anyone else confused ???

Exactly. I bet they end up with a overpriced minivan added to the lineup.

I personally did not know VW and Chrysler had a partnership going on. I know BMW and Chrysler does, as Chrysler provides the 1.6L I-4 from the export Neon to the Mini. But never this.

Chrysler making cars for the VW nameplate is a HUGE step up for VW.... they can't make a paper bag right and if they did they would prolly get lost in it
As does chrylser make crummer vehicles but the nice about VW 'sDarkstars is that when you go to trade that VW town and country in on a different vehicle, I can gaurantee that you will get a heck of alot more becasue it has a VW badge on the front, that a chrysler sign.

You people are praising VW?!?!?! WTF! VW's are crap. Mopars way better. Buy American and keep the money American you nazi's!!!! Damn, move to Germany...
CORRECTION!-Mopars WERE better back about 35 years ago when all that mattered was how big of an engine you could stuff into your car, and when gas didn't matter and was cheap as hell. Detroit made some mean machinery and i will always be a mopar man myself, but the crap that they have these days isn't a mopar, it is just plain crap. I mean really, they have the Daytona Ram
, rip off of the Daytona charger. Then that bring me to the next thing, The re-release of the charger
, and not to mention the "Rumble Bee Ram"
, anouther rip off of the Coronet Super Bee, and then the re-release of the Hemi which got the ball rolling in the first place. Diamler Chrylser i am at a loss at words with. They have to let the past be the past and come uo with new ideas, and stop bringing back old muscle cars. Let them have there glory of ruling the streets in the late 60's and early 70's. Times change, and they need new ideas. Plus the resale value of any chryler product sucks, I think that they have the lowest.
P.S.2009= New Dodge Challenger

I'm all for tradition. I love the Rumble Bee Rams. It's an old custom with a new twist. But that's just different taste between us two.
I'll be the first to say that the new Charger should have been named something else. It should have never been called a charger even though I'd drive one in a heartbeat, that name doesn't belong on a 4 door. But the Cuda's, Challengers, Charger's, ect., were built to compete with the Camaro's and Mustangs which are still around (I'm confident that Camaro's will be back). And that's why those names are being brought back. When I think of Chevy and ford old school I think of Camaro's and Mustangs. That was their muscle car. And when I think of Dodge muscle I think of the Charger. If you want new names and new innovation then look to the SRT-4,6,8,10, and the Viper.
I think that Dodge came out with a 4 door charger because if you look at every American Car Manufacture they don't have more then two high performance 2 door cars. Usually. And I think they wanted the Challenger to be thier new mucsle car next to the Viper. I only say the Challenger because of the artist drawings (which could just be nothing) I've seen. But if it comes out looking like those then that's a bad ass ride.
I believe that Moparr has better Re-sale value then any other domestic manufacture.
