Within the next six months or so I'm planning on purchasing a new vehicle and am interested in an on /off the road Bike I'd like sumthing with like a 650 cc ideally although all suggestions r welcome.And I'd also like it to look like a dirt bike.

BMW makes some of the best duo-sport stuff around. Be sure to look at their 650GS or 650 SC both are right in line with what you are describing. They will be pricey though, so also look at Hondas XL series (if they still make them) and Suzuki's DM series, both are well made, I lean towards Honda myself.. If the budget allows, the BMW is the Dakar bike of choice.

That said, are you sure you want a bike that is not as good on the road as a road bike and not as good off-road as an off road bike?

You will not keep up on pavement and you will not keep up on the trails. True dirt biking is not an option with enduro bikes. To me that are "Jack of all trades, master of none".

I have own an endura bike and while it was great for checking fencelines and livestock, it is not a good off road bike, and not even close to a great road bike.
