I went to the Dodge dealership today to buy power steering fluid for the Durango, and walked out with a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Hemi 4x4. I really wasn't planning on buying a new Ram for a little while, but this one had everything I wanted, Manual Transfer Case, 17s, and most importantly the Hemi. I might have even held off if 2005 wasn't the last year for the Manual Transfer Case in the 1500s and the 7/70 Powertrain warranty, and the Employee Pricing and $3,500 rebate didn't hurt either. I just got back so I'll have pictures up tomorrow. Now it's time to start saving up for the 6-inch lift and 35s

That's great you got a new truck, I personally test drove a single cab with the hemi and was not impressed at all with the overrated hemi. With the right tweeking I have heard of guys getting maximum potential out of it, but as for driving it off the lot ...not impressed...just a gas guzzler IMO. Has a lot of potential though thats for sure. I also noticed that the responce time from a dead start take off sucked profoundly. Maybe changing the gear ratios would solve that problem. Then again you bought a 4X4 so that probably isn't important too you as I was tring to make a street truck. What color did you get?
congrats man, can't wait for the pics!

your the reason why this country is so fuked up! one more gas hog on the road! you should be hung by your balls.... lol just messin but you know a certain homo driving a red cavalier is gonna come in here an cry like a little bitch about gas hogs lol.... keep on burning the gas!
I'll post pics later today, got to get to another computer to get the pics off of my camera.
Wiezer, a lot of the Mopar boys have been complaining that the Hemi just doesn't have enough oomph, and it is due to the gears, I have the 3.55 Rear End and, while it does get up and move, could use lower gears. Most owners are going to 4.56s and seeing very noticeable improvements, but you're right, I'm not too worried about the acceleration since I went with a 4x4, but I can definitely tell the difference moving up from my 4.7L Durango to my Hemi Ram.

get her tuned! that will wake it up...especially on acceleration
lol you are complaining about 3.55
I have 3.46 granted its a car but still
how much out the door? I was actually looking into getting that exact truck.

That's the first thing I expected to see when I opened this thread. It's not a truck thread without Transformer boy cryin' about gas mileage now is it.
Saint - Awesome choice, looks great, even though I am not to fancy on white vehicles, but hey it's not mine right. I think it would look even better with some larger more aggressive tires, like BFGoodrich All Terrain, or if you don't want to spend the kind of money they will cost (they are like $350 a tire for something that big in Canada), you could go with some Cooper Discoverer A/T's, they are about half the price of the BFG's and I have had a set before, they look good, and took all the mud and snow I threw at them as good as the BFG's I had years ago.
Anyhow, good job, looks great, good luck and keep us updated on any progress.

hey whats wrong with white! lol anyway as far as tires.... i like the nitto terra grapplers, but in 35 inch its a lot of money! i cant afford them...im gonnna get 33s cause thats what ic an afford lol bout 250 a tire
Absolutely nothing is wrong with White. I just like dark colors better, and I really love black vehicles. The GTP is black, the z24 it replaced was black, and the z71 is burgundy.
White is great for always looking clean, black is so hard to clean, but when it is I think it just looks awesome.

Black looks awesome for 15 minutes... then you gotta wash it again.
I've had 4-5 black cars.

I'm not a big fan of the color either, but they only had 3 1500 4x4s and the other two were just too expensive. I know I need bigger tires, but I'm going to wait until I put the lift on the truck before I put them on and I'm going with Toyo Open Country M/Ts in 35x12.50R17 size.

Wanna race? I'll give you a car and the jump and I'll still walk right past you. They're
nice but too heavy and slow. That thing needs all the horses it can find just to help it move. But it makes a great tow vehicle! Please tell me your not gonna try and race it or anything stupid right? Its a nice truck don't try to make it into a sports car.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Oh man, that is one nice looking truck, congrats on the pick up.
As far as tires, have you looked into the Interco Trxus M/T's yet? They are really aggressive looking.
Have a good one,
Justin
And for rims just about anything with beedlocks looks cool.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I'm gonna go with Toyo Open Country M/Ts, I want a good all around tire since the truck won't go off-road when I deploy, but a lift kit is a ways into the future, I want to keep the warranty for a litlle while.

You might be lucky and have a cool dealership that will still honor the warranty even after you lift your vehicle.
The dealership I got mine from still honor's the warranty after the lift and tires. I called them up and questioned it. All they told me was that the parts that I replace with aftermarket will not be honored if something would happen to them, but everything else is still ok. On the flip side, I know some dealerships that are very strict on the subject.
Have a good one,
Justin
I'm not too worried about the dealership, because I can always throw the Magnuson-Moss warranty act in their face if they don't do warranty work, but the engine isn't even broken in yet. I'm just not trying to mess around with anything that is covered by the warranty yet.
