i saw a scion xA commercial today, the one where the two guys are like my xA is the coolest thing ever, and i noticed a TRD emblem on the DS of the grille
now i thought that Scion was an independent manufacturer, or does Toyota make their engines for them?? i;m lost, anyone help me here?

scion is a daughter/son company of toyota

everything scion IS toyota

the motor in the tC is the 2.4 camry motor

all official performance parts for scion are TRD

when u buy scion you are buying toyota

exactly. Scion is the "bargain brand" of Toyota...and they're gearing all their vehicles toward the younger crowd. looking at who's driving them, it's working.

Maybe down there in B-More, L. However, around here, I find more older people driving xAs and xBs than younger people. The tC, however, is mostly the young crowd and the middle age crisis people.

Personally, I'd love Scion to come out with something a little bigger than the tC with a V6. I'd be all over that.

That makes two of us. I'll be looking for something new in about a year. The tC is just too small for me, plus I'd like a nice small V6 (like around a 2.7 litre). If they fit that bill in the next year, they'll get my business. We'll see....

Have you been in the tC. Its got a lot of room for a 2 door. I can sit in the back comfortably and im 6 2 255. The back does have a lot of room, plus the seats in the back recline

My friend is 6'4" or 5". He's owned midsize cars that he's been less comfortable in. He loves his tc, now if i could just get him to modify it.

I've heard a lot of people complain about the xA, but after driving one, I liked it.....

don't have use for the tC...and th xB is ok, but like every one has one...stupid fad car...

the xA would make a nice commuter car.....

No, I haven't to be honest. I'll try it out sometime, though. However, I really want a V6 in my next vehicle. So, the tC doesn't quite fit the bill....

If you're going to buy a scion, get the TC or get nothing at all. The rest of the scion linup are completely ugly. I go to SEMA every year so believe me I've seen the best of both the xa's and xb's, but as far as looks and support the TC is the way to go in my opinion.

I would try to score the limited edition TC that NauticaZ24 has, seems nice a nice find.

Don't buy a toaster on wheels, please.

Re: scion

the tc has 160hp at somewhat low rpm... going with a diff coupe in same price range with v6 isnt going to get u much better.

Plus the 250 or w/e HP s/c'd one will be out this fall i believe

Re: scion

^^^ Supposedly the Sc'd TC is gonna be 200 hp.

I know you want a v6, but im telling you, for a 4 banger with no Forced Induction this car flys. Remember, its a motor from a camry in a much smaller car. I was actually going to get a 4 door or an SUV for a long time cause i thought i needed extra room, even though i wanted a smaller car. As soon as i test drove it i was sold on it. Peeled out leaving the dealer lot, by time i got to end of street i knew i wanted it. If its power you are worried about, a tC wont let you down

Umm wait..I though the tC was lighter than the cav...so there goes that idea...

Re: scion

the tC is 160 Hp and 163 Tq, i dont think the eco makes anywhere near that, correct?

Re: scion
Thursday, August 18, 2005 9:11 AM
actually the 200HP tc is with the trd s/c on that 2.4 motor.
5psi i think it was stating would raise it 40hp from 160 to 200 i cant rembmer the actual psi but its low for sure.

the tc with a v6 is possible, you may have to use the 3.0 v6 from the late 90's and early 00's however and not the 3.3 of today.

the xa and xb are rebadged toyotas the echo hatchback in canada is the xa and the xb is well something over in japan the tc is from the europe platform for a 4door sedan using a new generation 3sgte ( celica all-trac engine )
xc would have been the name used instead of tc but volvo woudnt like it much i assume.
