GOOD car for under $14k
Tuesday, August 09, 2005 3:05 PM
ok i have to get a car NOW

i need my payments under 300 a month. which would mean i need a car under 14k

if possible id rather a SUV or a car with a liftback. i need the room to haul thigns around and transport stuff.

i also need the vehicle to have somewhat low miles for this price and be reliable. not looking for anything to mod, but its always nice if there is a possibility later.

any help?

ive been thinking of used tiburon, used sante fe, used blazer 2 door

what else?

thanx

unless you WANT a car for around 14k and i mean really WANT the car, i suggest looking for something a bit less in price, that way you arent wasting as much money on something you dont really want.

i'd personally get the blazer. fun lil trucks. get the ZR2 package, though. lifts it a couple inches, nice 4wd gears. if i had to get an suv, that's what i'd get.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

how is reliability on the blazers?

if i went with a blazer, my dream would eb to pick up a 92 drop in a brand new motor and tranny. i love the look of those. then put all the typhoon body kit on it and drop it.

i wish i knew how much it would cost to do that and how long it would take.

as far as SUV's my top choices are: kia sorento v6 hyundai sante fe v6 blazer v6

my friends got a '95 blazer, and it runs just fine. threw a bearing a while back, though. other than that lil mishap, it's a champ.

you do realize that you'll be paying out of you @ss for gas if you go that big... but if you really need all that for what you need to carry around then i guess its something you have to deal with.

but i think that a vibe, matrix, pt cruiser, mazda3 sport, mazda5, or the protoge 5 will be one of your better choices for fuel efficiancy and cargo space.

Get an escape/mariner/tribute if you want a nice little suv
the V6 versions are pretty damn quick and decent on gas

Not a liftback, but what about an Audi A4, like around 98-99. Those things are awesome inside and out. AWD on most, lots of cargo and interior room

I take it a 2005 Ecotec is out of the question? They are probably too rare to find new anyways. but with virtually every option you are still talking under 14k

In my area I've seen 00-01 2wd 2-door Blazers for well under ten grand, quite often
w/less than 50k on them...

A local dealership had a green one with 47k on sale for $8990....

and the 4.3 will last forever..... they are ok on gas..

If not, an 03 Vibe is a good choice..
